    JOB TITLE:             HEALTH SERVICES ASSISTANT

    REPORTS TO:        NURSE, RN

    FLSA STATUS:       HOURLY

    SALARY: $14.00 - $17.00 PER HOUR

    SCHEDULE: SATURDAY - WEDNESDAY, FULL-TIME 8 HOURS/DAY BUT FLEXIBLE ON THE HOURS (7:00A - 3:00P, 8:00A - 4:00P, 9:00A - 5:00P)

    Welcome to Mount Prospect Academy (MPA), a rapidly growing alliance of nonprofit agencies founded in 2003, with the goal of helping struggling adolescents find a “zest for life" and succeed in the “business of life.”

    MPA has evolved to offer a variety of mental health support services to a diverse population of “hard to treat” and “difficult to place” adolescents. Our targeted services include home and community-based treatment, residential treatment programs, group homes, and special education schools. MPA is known for its ability to achieve successful outcomes with difficult-to-serve individuals throughout New England.

    SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Our programming affords children and adolescents the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with others, to grow and discover their gifts, and realize their potential to thrive. As a Health Services Assistant, you will be the centerpiece of making our commitment a reality. In particular, you will be assisting in our Health Services Office.

    The Health Services Office position is a multi-faceted position within the residential building. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Health Services and in her absence the nurse in the department. We also answer to the Clinicians of the children we serve, Program Directors and the Administrative Department.

    You will have many opportunities to grow as a professional and to impact the lives of our residents including, but not limited to:

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Provide mentoring students, including role modeling appropriate behavior, redirection and crisis management.
    • Refine students’ social skills, interpersonal skills, habilitation skills, and coping mechanisms through the development of respectful & positive relationships.
    • Be a positive role model to help shape growth and build trust.
    • Development of polite communication skills and respectfulness of authority.
    • Communicates to all team members in a professional manner
    • Completes all applicable paperwork, including MARs, vehicle sign out, incident reports, student weiqhts, druq screen documentation, Etc. Etc., using appropriate Medicaid friendly language
    • Maintains security of hazardous materials (chemicals, solvents), student medication, and other information I materials that should not be accessible by students

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Administer Medication to students upon request
    • Assist in coordinating student visits with consulting psychiatrist
    • Transitions students safely after a med office visit to their assigned area
    • Reviews incoming prescriptions under the direction of the RN to ensure that the correct prescriptions arrived from the pharmacist
    • Divide up new prescriptions to be distributed to the appropriate medical annex
    • Distribute prescriptions to medical annexes on a weekly basis, including PRNs and over the counter supplies that have been previously identified as needing to be stocked
    • Package medication for transporters and manage the paperwork obtained back from transporters, audit such paperwork for completeness and accuracy
    • Uploads medical paperwork from off-site medical visits
    • Assists in the destruction of medication
    • Assists in training in CPR, First Aid, and other medical related topics
    • Cover for the Health Services Manager
    • Such other position responsibilities related to the functioning of health services offices
    • Keeps all verbal and written information confidential, shredding any documents that contain a student's name or other identifying information. Does not discuss student medical/psychiatric problems to anyone who doesn't need to know.
    • Reports to RN any medical office property or equipment that is in need of maintenance or repair, and discontinue use immediately
    • Maintains security of hazardous materials (chemicals, solvents), student medication, and other information I materials that should not be accessible by students
    • Completes and maintains current certification in CPI, CPR, first aid and all required trainings.

    QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:

    • Valid Driver's License
    • Meet safe driver guidelines as established by employer’s insurance carrier
    • Position requires criminal background check
    • 21 years or older
    • Associate or bachelor’s degree or 60 college credits.  Or:
    • A high school diploma or GED and one of the following:
      • the equivalent of 2 years of full-time experience working with children.
      • OR any combination of credits in human services & experience with children that totals 2 years.
      • OR 7 years of parenting experience
      • OR requirements that meet NH Child Care Licensing Regulation He-C  4001.19
