    ASSISTANT TEACHER POSITION

    MOUNTAIN VIEW PARENT NURSERY SCHOOL

    BEGINNING 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR

     

    MOUNTAIN VIEW PARENT NURSERY SCHOOL (MVPNS) is seeking a dynamic assistant teacher for their mixed-age 3-5-year-old afternoon class.  Hours are 11:30-4:30 (MWTh) and

    11:30-3:00 on (F)

     

     QUALIFICATIONS:

    Work experience with young children and families a plus

    ·         Must be willing to complete 6 ECE units during the first year of employment

    ·         BA preferred

    ·         Effective communication skills

    ·         Ability to work with young children and adults from diverse backgrounds

    ·         Life Scan Clearance

    ·         TB test and immunizations required

     

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    BASIC SCHOOL DAY:

    ·         Each work day, prepare school environment by setting up sandbox, wheeled vehicles, outdoor areas, dramatic play and other experiences. 

    ·         Interact with children and parents as they use materials.

    ·         Assure a safe environment on an on-going basis.

    ·         Act immediately as needed to aid and assist children and families in the event of an emergency situation.

    ·         Depending on age group, changing diapers or soiled clothing may be required.  

    ·         Employ knowledge of positive discipline principles and social problem-solving methods. 

    ·         Support social-emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development of children. 

    ·         Aspire to instill a love for learning. 

    ·         Understand and appreciate family dynamics, support child/family relationships, and work to build positive relationships with each child and parent while being respectful of social and cultural situations.

    ·         At the end of each day, clean and store equipment and secure facility. 

    ·         Assist next class by setting up classroom, anticipating needs for their class experiences.

     

     

    OTHER SUPPORT:

    ·         Communicate needs for supplies and equipment through routine channels.

    ·         Support ongoing beautification of school environment and assume leadership of one or more beautification work days with parent volunteers on a Saturday. 

    ·         Maintain school equipment in an orderly fashion in conjunction with staff.

    ·         Work collaboratively with class teacher and staff in planning and developing curriculum as well as gathering and preparing materials.

    ·         Assist lead teacher with assessments.

    ·         Assist in identifying needs of children and plan for implementation of support plan.
