With production facilities in Ankeny, Iowa and Hendersonville, North Carolina, Mrs. Clark’s Foods is a leading producer and co-manufacturer of high quality, nationally and internationally branded items within the food industry. We specialize in manufacturing and packaging a wide variety of products, including Mayonnaise, Sauces, Dressings, and Beverages. Mrs. Clark’s Foods is equipped to manufacture products in a variety of traditional bottle sizes, single serve packages and flexible packaging for both retail and food service customers.

In support of our local, national and international customers, Mrs. Clark’s Foods is looking for an experienced CFO to join our team to provide high-level strategic leadership. This is a full-time, exempt position located in Ankeny, IA; reports to directly to CEO. 

    The CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER will be responsible for performing hands-on operational activities such as day-to-day accounting matters, financial modeling, forecasting, profitability analysis and oversee areas such as IT, HR and our growing sales team. Building a high-performance team, training, and development are key aspects of this position.  The CFO must have extensive, hands-on experience with all aspects of Business Planning and Control System (BPCS) software to deliver precise information under strict deadlines. The successful candidate will be a strong analyst with self-assurance and the ability to complete work skillfully with minimal direct supervision.  

    RESPONSIBILITIES, IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP, THIS INDIVIDUAL WILL:

    • Function as a strategic business partner and problem solver in a manufacturing environment
    • Intimately understand and effectively influence the operational and financial profit levers that drive the Company’s performance
    • Continuous review of processes and procedures; the ability to identify areas needing improvement and then follow through to ensure applicable processes and problem resolution are conducted
    • Be directly involved with the daily financial oversight and management of the company
    • Lead company culture, driving team engagement and communication
    • Manage and mentor reporting staff members
    • Manage relationship with vendors in a leveraged environment

    ACCOUNTING SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare and analyze complex financial reports that summarize and forecast the business activity and financial position of the company highlighting variances and identifying trends; effectively developing, executing and communicating information from complex financial models to management
    • Manage financial reporting with the preparation and review of the organization’s monthly financial statements
    • Review monthly general ledger reconciliations and accuracy of general ledger postings, review fixed asset accounting and assist with oversight of special projects
    • Oversight and review of all AP, AR, and GL transactions for organization
    • Manage cash flow; monitor payments, transfers and daily banking activity
    • In tandem with the CEO, direct all budgeting and forecasting efforts
    • Continuous function of identifying process improvements by working with department managers to implement changes; build efficient and effective business processes
    • Participate in special projects to analyze the effect of financial actions
    • Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 15+ years of progressive financial management responsibility including strong HR and IT experience in a manufacturing environment
    • 5+ years of experience leading financial teams; experience leading multi-plant and international operations is desired; thorough knowledge of the food/beverage industry preferred; public accounting experience would be a plus
    • BS/BA Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; a CPA or MBA preferred  
    • Thorough knowledge of Business Planning and Control System (BPCS) software is crucial
    • Proficiency in MS Office programs with a solid background utilizing MS Excel
    • Problem-solving ability and strong organizational skills, as well as attention to detail
    • Self-starter with tremendous initiative; able to perform with minimal supervision
    • Must be able to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
    • Need conceptual thinkers who can take a vision and create better processes/solutions. Energetic, honest, and high ethical standards. Enjoys collaboration, being a team player, and leading/participating in continuous improvement processes.
    • Strong project management, organizational and analytical skills
    • Desire to lead, learn, manage, and coach! 
    • A hands-on leadership approach in leveraging systems and processes in order to drive significant and profitable growth
    • Experience analyzing, developing, implementing and refining scalable and measurable processes is an absolute must
    • Demonstrated knowledge of financial systems and infrastructure; the ideal candidate will have costing, inventory management, and distribution accounting expertise.
    • Experience with regulatory and retail distribution within the food industry is preferred
    • An innate intellectual curiosity to continuously press for additional insight into the Company and its markets and an ability to communicate confidently and articulately
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills a must
