    GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR A PERMANENT POSITION AT A LOCAL FOOD MANUFACTURER!

    The INGREDIENT WEIGHER is responsible for performing and assisting co-workers in the warehousing and sub-division of chemical raw materials; complying with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety practices and standards; and maintaining housekeeping standards throughout the ingredient pre-weigh area. This is a full-time, 3rd shift, non-exempt position that report to the Production Supervisor.    

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the weighing of raw materials for the food production department and ensuring chemicals are free of contaminants 
    • Perform subdivision of chemicals under strict adherence to formula and hygienic standards
    • Provide complete and accurate documentation of work performed in a timely manner
    • Sample materials for testing and disposition
    • Perform quality control checks to ensure standards are met
    • Manage raw material receipts
    • Store and stage inventory for pre-weigh operations
    • Move materials within or adjacent to warehouse areas to avoid delays due to material shortages during production
    • Wrap and accurately tag raw materials pallets with the placard and reservation area
    • Responsible for the operation, control, monitoring and troubleshooting of pre-weigh equipment
    • Communicate effectively with supervision and co-workers. Report decisions, problems, and questions to Manager in a timely manner 
    • Comply with safety and environmental regulations
    • Maintain a safe working environment and participate in area safety training and inspections. Report potentially unsafe conditions
    • Comply with all policies, procedures, quality standards and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as well as maintain general housekeeping standards throughout the pre-weigh area. 
    • Provide on-the-job training to new employees
    • Accurately record hours worked
    • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
    • Related experience preferred but will train the right candidate!
    • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to conduct unit conversions, compute rate, ratio & percent 
    • Must be detail oriented and quick learner
    • Ability to work within deadlines
    • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills
    • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, forklift driving, or retail work experience preferred
    • Reasoning: Ability to understand flow of materials through a production and warehouse facility, both physically and in the system, and the impacts from any deviation of procedure. Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations
    • May require flexibility in scheduling

    PAY:

    • $14.50/hour starting wage
    • $1.00/hour Third Shift Differential

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to work inside a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to changing temperatures (hot, cold, humid), moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noises. The noise level in the work environment can be loud; vibration levels are moderate.
