JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
LOCATION: Brevard, NC (and surrounding counties)

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The creation and management of an annual development plan that is clear in its objectives, target audiences, timelines, and assignment of responsibilities;
Through inspiring communications, the development of meaningful relationships, and well-thought out strategy, connect donors and other stakeholders to the Muddy Sneakers mission and the value of experiential science education in the public-school system;
Lead responsibility for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of existing and prospective donors in furtherance of the organization's annual and long-term development goals. Prioritizing those donors who may have the linkage, interest, and ability to become major gift prospects. Think creatively about ways to recognize and appreciate donors in ways that they value;
Secure funds for the organization by managing a portfolio of qualified donors assuring that as many as possible are retained and eventually upgrade in their giving and involvement;
Work with development and communication staff to regularly provide supporters with engaging stories and inspiring information about the program;
Facilitate the sponsorship and donor-relations aspects of events and assist in event execution and planning, including fundraising and community events;
In collaboration with the relevant Field Office Director, coordinate resonant experiences for donors and other stakeholders through encouraging field expeditions, group hikes, and other creative strategies to inspire deep understanding and support;
In collaboration with Field Office Directors and Executive Director, develop a network of strategic partnerships that focus on building strong relationships with community leaders, corporations, conservation partners, school leadership, and other key constituencies;
Serve as a contributing member to the Board of Directors' Development & Communications Committee in helping to conceive and implement high-level fund development strategies to support new and existing initiatives;
Assume management responsibilities over the organization's donor database (currently Blackbaud's eTapestry) and work with associated administrative staff in fully utilizing that system;
Develop strategy around the role of grants in contributing towards the organization's development goals; Manage grant writing responsibilities while working with staff and occasionally third party support to execute that process.
