Part Time Tutoring Job (Elementary Age Underserved Kids) ABOUT San Jose families are in immediate need of part-time tutors for elementary school children in all subjects. If you live anywhere in the South Bay area and are interested in tutoring, we encourage you to apply! Learn Now - Empowering Children Through Education Our goal is to give every homeless or at-risk child in Silicon Valley the opportunity and support to successfully complete elementary school at or above grade level by offering a FREE tutoring and mentorship program. Our program focusses on students in 1-3 grades. Third grade has been identified as important to reading literacy because it is the final year children are learning to read, after which students are "reading to learn." If they are not proficient readers when they begin fourth grade, as much as half of the curriculum they will be taught, will be incomprehensible. Our strategy is basic, but powerful: Meet the basic needs of underserved, at-risk and homeless families first, then ensure their children get support in completing elementary school. Deepening poverty is directly linked with rising levels of homelessness and food insecurity/hunger for many Americans and children are particularly affected by these conditions. What you will do: Learn Now - Empowering Children Through Education: Muindi Foundation's goal is to strengthen at-risk children's reading, writing and math competencies, support their success during the school year, prevent summer learning loss, and provide basic need support services to them and their families. By providing free tutoring programs, students learn to acquire a motivated and positive mindset. Our objective is to empower homeless and at-risk families and children in low-income communities to thrive and change the trajectory of their lives through educational success. 6-week Intern Work Hours and Schedule - Monday, June 13, 2022 - Friday, July 29, 2022 Workdays: Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm (25 hours a week) Location: Office is in 1040 Park Avenue, Suite 200-D; San Jose, California 95126 Position Type: Tutor - $14.00 dollars an hour.
