    Job Description

    NBC4 Los Angeles and Telemundo 52 are seeking a multiplatform producer who will be responsible for producing newscasts, breaking news and special events for NBC4 Los Angeles streaming channel.

    This role will also produce content across NBC4 platforms including linear TV, OTT, YouTube and social media platforms. We are looking for someone full of ideas and creativity who can take a project from pitch to publication or be able to use someone else’s idea or content and repurpose it for the appropriate platform.

    • Own and produce newscasts and cut-ins primarily for the NBC4 Los Angeles News streaming channel, daily.
    • Ensure that we are being live, urgent and relevant on the NBC4 Los Angeles News and Noticias Telemundo California streaming channels.
    • Write and edit content, including breaking news, for our streaming channels, linear and other platforms.
    • Lead the adoption of new tools and workflows for our streaming channels as they are researched, developed and deployed.
    • Be the newsroom’s champion for streaming, leading the charge to reimagine how we reach audiences beyond broadcast.
    • Check all scripts for accuracy, grammar, and punctuation.
    • Use desktop editing systems like Dalet and Adobe Premiere to edit video including breaking news.
    • Assist with publishing video to our websites and YouTube channels.
    • Coordinate and monitor the streaming of breaking news, live events and newscasts on our platforms.
    • Monitor a variety of video sources to identify content that would appeal to our audiences.
    • Support reporters, anchors and photographers with content needs.
    • Search wires and other partner sources for stories to publish.
    • Assist in control room and backup line producer when needed.
    • Be a champion for streaming
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 3 years of broadcast writing and multiplatform experience at a news organization that creates high-quality content under tight deadlines.
    • B.A. degree or equivalent experience in areas such as Journalism & Communications, or related field
    • Must be able to write on deadline with speed and accuracy.
    • Must be self-directed, highly organized and detail oriented.
    • Must possess strong journalistic skills, have ability to write and edit broadcast and digital copy.

    • Able to work extended and flexible hours during emergency situations and breaking news.

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Experience in conversational writing for broadcast.
    • Knowledge of Associated Press style.
    • Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms, including broadcast, digital, social and mobile.
    • Exceptional communication skills.
    • Excellent news instincts with the ability to react decisively to breaking news.
    • Must have the desire to work in a creative, demanding, competitive news environment.
    • Team player mentality.
    • Creative approach to storytelling and problem solving.
    • Ability to make priority decisions under deadlines.
    • Spanish Fluency a plus.

    Additional Requirements:

    Salary: $70,000 to $105,000

    Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
