Job Description

NBC6 AND Telemundo 51 are looking for a multiplatform producer to produce live breaking news as well as original videos and segments created for our streaming channels that can also be used on linear, OTT and other platforms. We are looking for a journalist with a proven ability to create videos that are shareable and are relevant to an audience on any platform. This person will also need to use someone else’s idea or content and repurpose it for the appropriate platform.
Our ideal candidate is someone who produces newscasts, is bilingual (English/Spanish), full of ideas and can take a project from pitch to publication.
The role requires being able to write, produce, and edit video as well as move seamlessly from one platform to the next as necessary. You will need to work closely with news leadership, producers and reporters to select the most compelling and relevant stories for the duopoly.

Responsibilities:

• Find opportunities to go live with breaking news on our streaming channels using either our VMix or linear control room.
• Produce content for our streaming channels in English and Spanish, re-purposing content or creating segments or programs either live or recorded.
• Ensure that we are being live, urgent and relevant on the NBC6 South Florida News and Telemundo Florida streaming channels.
• Pitch, edit and post digital-first video products using repurposed content and find the best ways to promote and expand exposure of this content on social, digital and OTT platforms.
• Produce Beyond the Forecast, El Tiempo+ and 6 To Know.
• Pitch, produce and booth live specials on linear, streaming, OTT an social media.
• Look for opportunities to produce recap hits on big stories/investigations for multiple platforms,
• Participate in daily editorial meetings to identify content for streaming.
• Ensure good content is shared with duopoly partners.
• Write headlines and text for your videos to maximize engagement.
• Regularly produce newscasts for linear and streaming.
• Fill in as a producer on newscasts as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, media or equivalent experience.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience producing videos for TV, streaming or digital platforms.
• Experience editing videos on tight deadlines.
• Experience editing in Adobe Premiere.
• Exceptional editorial skills: Ability to recognize stories with high potential for digital attention.
• Familiarity with social media platforms.
• Experience in editing video for TV and web.

Eligibility Requirements:

• B.A. degree or equivalent in areas such as Journalism & Communications, or related field.
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadlines, including breaking news.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which could include overtime, nights, holidays and weekends.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be willing to work at the station’s Miramar location.
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be willing to work in high-risk emergency situations including hurricanes.
• Ability to speak and write English and Spanish.

• Experience with a CMS a plus.
