    Job Title: Music Instructor/Choir Director

    Job Category: Faculty Full-time

    FLSA Status: Exempt Salaried

    Annualized Salary: $56,000 - $58,000 (12 month contract)

    Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (7:30 am to 5:30 pm on Tuesdays – Faculty Meeting)

    (Occasional evening and/or weekend work; some travel may be required)

    Reports to: School Principal (Chief Academic Officer)

    Job Summary: The teacher is responsible for developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents, or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. The music teacher will establish musical programs that develop music/vocal performances, provide students with both in-school and out-of-school instruction that meet the demands of the expanding performing arts program. Duties include:

    1.

    • Establish St. Philips Choir Ensemble with weekly rehearsals
    • Lead daily Chapel services to include: coordinating with the Chapel Committee, maintaining the weekly chapel calendar for guest speakers and acolytes, leading chapel songs
    • Coordinating yearly performances to include quarterly Saints Time performances (class or choir), Grandparents’ Day performance, Christmas Musical, and Spring Mini Concert
    • Minimum 1 off-campus performance
    • 1 Guest Vocal Professional for in-class instruction

    2. Manage existing music programs, including Young Strings and Swan Strings, to include partner expectations for the growth of the program: interfacing with clients, creating out-of-class performance/rehearsal schedules, and performance expectations and procedures.

    3. Attending discipline-relevant professional developments that introduce or reinforce skills to expand performing arts programming.

    Additionally, the position requires the teacher to maintain a class environment advantageous to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    · Administers and develops subject assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.

    · Ability to teach well, as demonstrated by references and student achievement

    · Mastery of subject matters to be taught, as demonstrated by references, education, and student achievement

    · Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.

    · Assesses student progress towards learning targets, objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.

    · Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.

    · Demonstrates and differentiates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirement.

    · Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study.

    · Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.

    · Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g., classroom, cafeteria, playground, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.

    · Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and to improve student achievement.

    · Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g., grades, progress narratives, lesson plans following a scope and sequence, correspondence with parents and students, examinations and quizzes, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.

    · Supports other classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.

    Other Functions

    · Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school.


    Education and/or Experience

    · Bachelor’s degree

    · Master’s degree preferred and reflected in compensation experience

    · Teacher Certification (preferred)

    · Two years of teaching experience are strongly preferred, with exceptions granted for outstanding candidates with demonstrated teaching gifts and call

    ****Work Environment and Physical Demands

    • Work is primarily indoor but requires the incumbent to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between campus buildings or off campus.
    • Standard office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Attendance at evening and weekend events is required.
    • Off-campus, state and regional travel may occur from time to time.
    • Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.
    • Must be able to bend and reach.
    • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines.
    • Near vision sufficient to read written communication and computer display screens
    • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
