    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.

    In this role, the successful candidate performs functions in the Observation Unit necessary for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and outcome evaluation. Participates in the management of patients as a member of the team in a busy Observation Unit, working in collaboration with an attending Hospitalist.

    Major Job Responsibilities :

    • Obtain initial patient histories and perform physical examinations.
    • Initiate, document, and communicate the plan of care and follow up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.
    • Perform patient rounds with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
    • Ordering of medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
    • Interpret laboratory and test results.
    • Confer with attending physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement the therapeutic plan of care.
    • Complete discharge summaries, prescribe appropriate discharge medications, and out-patient referrals.
    • Inform patients and families of the necessary post-discharge care instructions.
    • Perform related duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree, required.
    • Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs ARC-PA) program.
    • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the New York State Department of Education or Nurse Practitioner (NP) by the New York State Department of Education.
    • Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
    • Current BLS certification

    Preferred requirements:

    • ACLS
