    Position Summary:

    This position is accountable for the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of the Quality Plan, QA/QC project management and supporting technical staff.


    Key Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for maintaining records relating to inspection and testing data, and applying quality assurance/control procedures
    • Develop a working relationship with customers, both internal and external, in order to ensure customer needs are addressed
    • Develop quality reports, post-construction reports, and detailed progress reports
    • Assure that all materials, workmanship, and construction are in full compliance with the contract plans and specifications
    • Require that defective work or materials be corrected or removed until made compliant
    • Manage the quality organization to control the quality of products, using a variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality and minimize cost
    • Lead quality staff to perform required inspection and testing of construction elements both on-site and at fabrication sites. On-site staff consists of a third party QC firm
    • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality activities
    • Set up practices to monitor and control quality; however, other factors must be considered, such as effectiveness, cost, and productivity
    • Apply substantive expertise during pre-bid, construction, and post-construction phases of a project by working with plants/materials, construction, and estimating teams to ensure quality standards and project profitability are achieved
    • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc.

    Education/Experience


    • 15 years of experience in roadway and bridge design and/or construction required
    • 10 years of experience in quality management activities required
    • Experience preparing and implementing quality plans and procedures for design and/or construction required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Engineering or related field preferred
    • Professional Engineer license preferred

    Physical Demands

    • Travel will be required to attend training and meetings.
    • Ability to sit or stand for entire shift
    • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
    • Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds.
    • Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly.

    Qualifications:

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    1. Master’s Degree in Geography or closely related field with a minimum of 18 or more graduate credits in Geography with two years’ relevant teaching experience preferably in higher education. Expertise in Physical Geography highly desired.
    2. Experience in developing and maintaining a laboratory science program.
    3. A member of the International Geographical Honor Society and Gamma Theta Upsilon a plus.
    4. Experience as a student club advisor preferred.
    5. Geospatial skills -ArcView (GIS) and remote sensing needed for Geospatial Technology Certificate.
    6. Demonstrated ability to teach in multiple formats, these include online synchronous and asynchronous, face-to-face, and hybrid formats.
    7. Demonstrated excellence in communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, which transcend diverse audiences.
    8. Successful teaching experience and commitment to working with a diverse population of students and staff.
    9. A passion for continuous learning and a dedication to support student success through the mission of the College.
    10. The ability to facilitate varied teaching methods (i.e. lecture, class discussion, assessment, presentations, field work, laboratory) to enhance student learning and completion. Online teaching experience or willingness to complete online teaching training. Willingness to teach during the day, at night, and online, as well as at the main campus and extension centers.
    11. Experience in educational theory and techniques, teaching, experience at the post-secondary level preferred.
    12. Participation in professional and community organizations.
    13. Detail-oriented, well organized, and able to interact effectively with college staff at all levels and handle confidential information appropriately.
    14. Highly motivated and solution-oriented with a high degree of integrity, ethics and dedication to the mission of the College.
    15. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures.

    Essential Function:

    1. Teach assigned course load, which may include day, night, and online courses, as well as at the main campus and extension centers. Classes are to meet on time for the fully allotted time.
    2. Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes documented student learning.
    3. Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge in the discipline.
    4. Prepare, submit and maintain reports related to student learning.
    5. Develop or assist in development of curriculum including review or revision to keep programs on the cutting edge.
    6. Grade assignments in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, return graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assign final grades for all students, meeting or exceeding all institutional deadlines for completion.
    7. Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled and posted times (i.e., office hours) or by appointment.
    8. Collaborate with outside universities and institutions to promote and expand educational opportunities.
    9. Ensure student opinion surveys are conducted for each class and reviewed after summary information is available to assist with increasing student success.
    10. Participate in the instructor evaluation process which assesses the following:
