Momentum Enterprises is an asset management company backed by Arena Capital focused on community, families, and fun. We currently operate 22 businesses across New England and New York, including franchise locations of My Gym Children's Fitness Center, Launch Entertainment Park, Club Elevate, and The Newport Venture - a Newport, RI real estate company.

We are looking to hire a book keeper/ staff accountant with excellent organizational and analytical skills. We expect this person to be detail-oriented, knowledgeable on statistics, have strong problem-solving skills, an investigative nature, and a keen interest in the growth, efficiency, and profitability of our organization.

You’ll be responsible for all daily accounting tasks, including preparing tax documents and updating expense files. You will perform financial transactions and post them in the general ledger, with strong attention to detail. You will also carry out relevant administrative duties.

Ultimately, you will ensure the company’s finances run smoothly.

Overview of Responsibilities:

Perform daily book keeping tasks

Manage accounts payable

Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual account reconciliations, monitor and enforce compliance with tax and financial reporting standards and assist with cash flow forecasting.

Advise colleagues and executive management on decisions related to the company’s finances.

Maintain and update accounting records and files

Analyze budgets and create expense reports

Examine tax policies and handle tax payments and returns

Reconcile bank statements

Conduct month-end and year-end closures

Prepare documents for audits

Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations

Report to the Director of Finance and work to improve financial processes

Skills & Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written communication

In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations and industry legislation

Analytical skills

Attention to detail

Interpersonal skills

Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business studies or a related field

CPA preferred

Similar experience as a Staff Accountant or relevant role in accounting

Excellent use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel; very good with spreadsheets

Knowledgeable of multiple accounting platforms

Experience working with multi-entity businesses
