    Participant -Directed Worker to Provide Participant Directed Community Supports Reports to: Person who is wheelchair dependent - Who Is Common Law Employer Where: Northwest Washington DC, apartment building - free parking provided Flexible hours - Can work around college classes - 15 - 35 hours per week Flexible schedules with days, weekdays and weekends available Good for student perusing a career in Nursing, Health Care, Medicine, Gerontology, Physical Therapy, Legal Disability Advocacy, Nutrition, Specific Duties: Provides supports to a person who is wheelchair dependent in their home and community. Participant has both sensory and mobility disabilities. Duties include assisting the person with personal hygiene and dressing; laundry, shopping, meal prep and cleanup tasks. Help arrange and manage transportation to medical appointments, physical therapy appointments, recreational therapy with NRH, disability support and advocacy groups. Also help communicate with transportation providers in order to assure safe and reliable transportation to and from various meetings and events, consistent with attaining the highest level of community integration. Encouraging, assisting with and logging all self-directed physical therapy both at home and away. Assist as needed with mobility and hearing alert service dog as directed. Clean apartment and maintain the apartment as a safe and sanitary environment. Wash and Fold Laundry Organize household supplies as directed. Assist in communication as the participant is deaf/hard of hearing and also has visual challenges. Accompanying the person to do physical therapy at various locations and other natural areas as directed, Cooperate as needed with requests from physical therapists and recreational therapist in the National Rehabilitation Centers rehab program. Go out to food pantry and bring back food. Accompany person for personal errands, food shopping and perform other duties as necessary. Work Schedule and Setting: Work at person's home and various locations in DC, Maryland and Virginia Positions Available: part-time 15 - 35 hours per week, and two emergency support positions Hours needing coverage range from 6 AM till 9 PM Monday through Friday, 6 AM till 9 PM Saturday and Sunday. Paid break every 4 hours and scheduled unpaid lunch break after 6 hours of work. Qualifications and Skills Requirement: Must be vaccinated for COVID-19 18 years or older Certified in CPR and First Aid - current certificates required Clear criminal background history - background check required Valid driver's license, clear driving record, Current auto registration and required insurance, Willingness to utilize public transportation to do necessary errands Willing and able to carry out the services responsible for in the person's person-centered Individual Support Plan Successfully completes pre-training or in-service training necessary to carry out the community based services responsible for in the person's Person-Centered Individual Service Plan I-9 Documentation required, Must be Eligible to work in the U.S. Reliable transportation and being on-time and dependable required. Experienced in home health care or related health care field desired. High School graduate or equivalent required. Demonstrates ability to read, write, and carry out directions. Possesses maturity and ability to deal effectively with job demands. Good verbal and written communication skills. At least Two (2) letters of Reference (must be in good standing). Experience working with Persons with Disabilities preferred Willingness to work in close proximity to service dog required CNA/HHA Certificate desired Languages: Speaks, reads and writes English. Rate of Pay: $17.00 - $19.00/hour Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Flexible Scheduled Hours Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour, W-2 employment, paycheck every 2 weeks handled by professional payroll fiscal agent COVID-19 considerations: Client is fully vaccinated, PPE provided, vaccination for COVID-19 can be obtained for staff as medical professionals, Testing for COVID-19 can be obtained, disinfection of all frequently touched surfaces, ultra-violet disinfection box for small items, +/- Quarantine followed
