    Job Description

    PRIMARY ROLE:

    Procurement Manager works to effectively build and maintain relationships with manufacturers and suppliers in order to create optimal supply chain and pricing solutions for our customers’ requirements for ancillary supplies, medical and lab equipment, and other non-drug supply products for clinical trials.

    DUTIES:

    • Work with client requests provided by Project Manager to provide strategic guidance and develop supply plans in order to provide exceptional strategies for pricing and delivery.
    • Once projects are won, deliver on these projects ensuring ongoing supply and having contingency plans as needed.
    • Resolve project supply issues and ensure expedient solutions.
    • Provide information needed for logistics and regulatory purposes in order to make sure delivery of products do not run into challenge.
    • Work on an ongoing basis to find new and improved supplier and manufacturer relationships, providing depth of options, focusing on speed, service support, pricing, and other critical factors.
    • Develop exclusive clinical trial distribution relationships where possible.
    • Manage and develop a team of CTES procurement specialists.
    • Utilize KPI’s to manage performance of suppliers and manufacturers.
    • Work in close cooperation with all departments, including Business Development, Project Management, Logistics, Operations, Quality, and Finance.
    • Recruit, manage and develop non-drug procurement staff.
    • Make recommendations for process improvements as needed.
    • Place orders in business systems or ensures accuracy when others enter these orders.
    • Work with finance to setup new vendors.
    • Work with operations to monitor inventory and ensure adequate supplies are on hand when needed.
    • Work with quality to qualify new vendors.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in the ancillary supply field. Purchasing (CP/CPPM) or Supply Management (CPSM) certification desired.

    SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Understanding of budgets and business finance literacy
    • Strategic sourcing experience (not just transactional) including demonstrated vendor management
    • Ability to adapt to different client needs and to develop and maintain successful working relationships
    • Good numerical competence in order to analyze facts and figures
    • Ability to make important decisions and cope with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines
    • Analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to be flexible, work as part of a team, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Intermediate or higher skill level in Microsoft Office Suite
