    We are searching for a driven and passionate individual, to work closely with the founder and world class food scientists, in a small team pushing the limits for indulgent "better for you" treats.

    IN A VERY SHORT TIME THE NICK’S BRAND HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN SOME 15 COUNTRIES AND THE PARENT COMPANY, LUB FOODS, IS BACKED BY A GROUP OF INVESTORS WITH A NUMBER OF HIGH-PROFILE INVESTMENTS IN THEIR PORTFOLIOS, SUCH AS OATLY, BEYOND MEAT AND CALIFIA FARMS.

    We are dedicated to solving the problem that snacking is a large part of our diet and yet snacks continue to be rich in simple carbs and unhealthy fats. 

    Our Nick’s Ice cream is a clear demonstration of the possibility of creating an Ice cream that is low in Calories, Fats and yet is creamy, delicious and indistinguishable from premium high fat ice creams that are loaded with all the Calories!  We are the fastest growing D2C ice cream brand both in the US and Internationally. Our ambition is to create healthy snacks in a variety of categories and establish category leadership, globally, in this space.

    Recognizing the consumer’s unmet needs in healthier yet great tasting snacks and underlying need for strong innovation capabilities, LUB Foods has decided to set up a new lab to research and develop existing and new categories of snack foods. Location will be northern Los Angeles/ Encino/ Sherman Oaks.

    To support our growth goals and continue to maintain our leadership in delivering uniquely differentiating products, we are excited to expand our talent and technologies in product and process technology areas.  

    WE THEREFORE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR A PASSIONATE FOOD SCIENTIST/ TECHNOLOGIST TO BE PART OF OUR LUB LABS IN LOS ANGELES.  

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    The successful candidate will work with cross functional teams to advance R&D projects to enable rapid innovation with differentiation.  The candidate will conduct research in ingredient technologies, prototyping, evaluate and report science and technology trends in the market and support in the establishment of the labs. 

    Most important in this role is passion, drive and a genuine interest in creating "never seen before" treats and indulgent experiences.     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • NEW PRODUCT & PROCESS DEVELOPMENT: Work with Product Development team in LUB network to create and qualify prototypes with new ingredient technologies or innovations.  Design and execute experiments within project timelines and expectations.  Ensure process and product design is robust and delivers accurate specification information for scalability, label, claim, quality and package development. Conduct stability, performance and stress tests to qualify and validate product performance.
    • PROCESSES: Develop, manage and implement SOPs on product/ process development practices in line with manufacturing and distribution requirements. 
    • EXTERNAL NETWORKS:  Manage suppliers, copacker, or third party lab relationships to ensure results are achieved within the timeframe. 
    • SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY TRENDS:  Develop a framework to track, test and report science and technology trends, industry benchmarks, competitive products, etc., globally.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelors or Masters degree in food science, food engineering, food technology, or similar.
    • Experience working in food and beverage industry for a minimum of three years.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Organized and methodical approach to work.
    • Excellent management and communication skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
    • Ability to analyze, understand and solve problems.
