    Embedded System Engineer

    Position Summary

    NAGRA Scout is the first of a line of Group products for the broadband services sector. It is a data-driven, intelligent security solution designed to offer simplified security and management of connected consumer electronics devices within the home, home-office, or small business.

    NAGRA Scout protects consumers from cyber risks such as connected devices with poor built-in security, unpatched vulnerabilities, and cyberattacks.

    We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Embedded System Engineer o join our team. The successful candidate will have a technical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a strong track record in developing software solutions for home network and home security telecommunications gateways.

    Integrated into a small, passionate team, the engineer will be responsible for developing a cutting-edge home security product that not only provides essential protection for consumers and children, but also detects and combats cyberattacks targeting small businesses and residential homes. Your expertise in full-stack development will be instrumental in bringing these innovative solutions to life, and helping to make the world a safer and more secure place. You will work closely with Product Management, the engineering team, and security experts.

    Responsibilities

    • Define the overall architecture of the telecommunication gateway software and feature implementation, leveraging the latest advancements in Wi-Fi and fiber network technology.
    • Design and develop effective tools and services to monitor and configure the gateway's operational parameters.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand customer needs and create solutions that meet their requirements, as well as business goals and objectives.
    • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in accordance with industry best practices.
    • Quickly debug and resolve any technical issues that arise.
    • Maintain technical documentation for all development activities.
    • Participate in code reviews to ensure the highest quality of code is delivered to production.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry.
    • Collaborate with other teams in Nagra’s engineering centers in India, Switzerland and USA

    Your Key Qualities and Skills

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded software engineering specifically in the telecommunication home gateway domain.
    • Experience designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining networking and wireless products, including but not limited to, wireless routers, residential gateway, repeaters, extenders, and other Wi-Fi related products.
    • Proficient in programming languages C and/or C++ for embedded software.
    • In-depth knowledge of consumer gateway architecture (network configuration, network accelerator, etc)
    • In-depth understanding of Iptables and firewalling rules
    • Understanding of communication gateway components, including Wi-Fi, L1/L2
    • Solid knowledge of Linux and RTOS
    • Solid knowledge of at least one middleware OpenWRT and/or RDK-B (development and debugging)
    • Familiar with one Device Management platform such as BBF TR-069/369 and SNMP/ CableLabs
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with an ability to develop creative solutions.
    • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team environment.
    • A passion for technology, with a desire to continuously learn and grow.
    • Preferred:
      • Experience with WireShark, TCP/UDP protocols and embedded targets
      • Deep knowledge of 802.11 Wi-Fi systems, standards and protocols
      • Practical experience developing software for devices compatible with Matter standards and protocols
      • Driver development in embedded device
