    Job Description

    Under supervision of the Manager, Archives Collections & Outreach, the Archivist will be responsible for the day-to-day work of selecting, cataloging, maintaining, and making available the archived assets of Universal Pictures and other internal content divisions.  These assets include but are not limited to props, wardrobe, photography, artwork, publicity, marketing, and production records.  This role also fulfills internal and external client requests for production loans, exhibitions and research.

     

     

    • Work closely with Universal Pictures Feature Assets to select and acquire props and costumes from feature film productions
    • Work closely with Universal Pictures Feature Assets, Brand Marketing, and Publicity to make assets available for exhibits and loans.  Includes loan preparation, condition reports, and transportation
    • Courier and install exhibits of Archives & Collections assets as needed, both domestic and international
    • Curate internal exhibitions, as needed 
    • Along with the Archivist counterpart and Senior Archivist, create lists of significant, recognizable assets from feature productions for retention in Archives & Collections
    • Complete processing and cataloging of feature film collection
    •  Re-evaluate backlog assets
    • Supervise and train interns as part of NBCUniversal internship program

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in history, archival administration, museum studies, or equivalent.  Master’s Degree, as well as knowledge of the entertainment industry preferred.
    • Detail oriented person, with strong organizational skills.  Manual dexterity to handle fragile collections, and ability to lift 40-pound boxes required.
    • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database and digital imaging software
    • Good communication and writing skills are required, as is the ability to be a self-starter that works independently and within a team environment

    SALARY RANGE: $62,000 - $75,000
