    Job Duties:

    • Oversee daily editorial coverage, ensuring competitiveness across all platforms, especially during breaking news events.
    • Edit scripts meticulously to uphold factual integrity and maintain consistent style standards.
    • Collaborate with newsroom leadership, NBC Owned Television stations, and NBC News for special events planning and day-to-day coverage coordination.
    • Schedule editorial staff effectively to ensure comprehensive news coverage.
    • Participate in performance evaluations for assigned editorial staff, in collaboration with the VP of News.
    • Contribute to NBC4's recruitment efforts and facilitate new employee orientation when necessary.
    • Monitor market trends, develop and implement content and format changes, and communicate the vision to the team.
    • Collaborate with Creative Services to create promotions that resonate with a wide audience.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in news management or 7+ years of main show producing in a top 10 market.
    • Proficiency in working with the latest newsroom technologies, both hardware and software.
    • Nuanced and detailed copy editing abilities.
    • Proven track record of mentoring and developing Producers or Senior Producers.
    • Ability to partner closely with nighttime and early morning Producers to create a seamless newscast in a 24-hour news environment.
    • Experience creating schedules for newsroom staff.
    • Good collaborative and interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels.
    • Basic understanding and demonstration of editorial judgment and journalistic ethics in all platforms, including a current knowledge of laws of libel, slander and applicable FCC rules and regulations.

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overnights.
    • Prior working experience in the Los Angeles news market.
    • Capability to help set and communicate newsroom policies.
    • Prior experience producing Dayside broadcasts in a top 10 market.
    • Prior experience in a duopoly news environment.
    • Experience producing digital content for a newscast.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
    • Varied experience across multiple large markets is a plus!

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
    • Please note that this role is being hired on a contractual basis with potential for extensions.
    • Salary: $125,000 to $175,000 DOE
