Job Description
NBCUniversal’s Owned Spanish Speaking Television station in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, KXTX TV, is looking for a Multimedia Journalist. As a T39 Multimedia Journalist, you will be creating content for the most innovative news organization in Texas.
Responsible for shooting, writing, creating and editing original news stories; gather information for news stories using beat sources, contacts and leads.
Work directly with VP of News, Executive Producer and News Producer on story ideas and development.
Presents completed stories that are accurate, journalistically sound, fair and balanced.
Will coordinate, organize, conduct and video-record interviews in both English an Spanish.
Will report Live during newscasts and breaking news as needed, either in studio or out in the field.
Must have the skills to operate a Dejero live unit, set up and shoot their own live shots.
Produce original content for an assigned newscast, stream service, digital and social media.
Develop on-going “sweeps” style stories.
Strategically engage in social media.
Back-up news anchor when needed.
Represent Telemundo in community related events.
Build relationships with community and contacts for developing story leads
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :
BA or BS in Journalism or related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience working in Spanish market broadcast television.

Physical requirements required to perform medium/heavy physical work which includes:
Lifting and carrying camera equipment ranging from 15 lbs. to 50 lbs. (in camera weight) for extended periods of time to shoot on remote locations
Must be willing to work long hours, varying shifts (including nights and weekends) and report to work in emergencies depending upon news coverage when necessary.
Must be willing to work in Dallas/Fort Worth, just south of DFW Airport and able to travel to surrounding areas as needed.
Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required both written and verbal

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Be informed on news events locally and nationally.
Develop and maintain a network of contacts providing access to exclusive stories.
Assist producer in establishing sources, finding, and executing enterprise news investigations, building and maintaining strong list of story ideas.
Ability to ad-lib and improvise effortlessly in various types of on-air situations.
Must work well under pressure with an ability to meet deadlines.
A high level of skill and mastery of the Spanish language is essential.
Candidate must work effectively with others in a team-oriented environment.
Independent problem solving & multi-tasking.
