NBCUniversal’s Operations and Technology group is looking for a Wi-Fi Engineer with broad knowledge across networking and deep knowledge within Wi-Fi technologies for NBC’s global network infrastructure. This candidate must have experience in designing, analyzing, troubleshooting, planning, and auditing all parts of a global Wi-Fi network. This candidate must be willing to perform tasks or projects assigned and work closely with various engineers, vendors, and internal businesses such as NBC News, Telemundo, Sports, and Film.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to build relationships and collaborate with a diverse group of people.
• In-dept Wi-Fi security knowledge – WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise & PSK, RADIUS and 802.1X and PKI concepts.
• Ability to use various Wi-Fi tools such as Hamina, Ekahau, analysis with Omnipeek, NetAlly & Metageek
• Design, deploy & troubleshoot Wi-Fi networks to support offices in live TV/film production from inception to post-production.
• In-depth knowledge of RF, planning, survey, and optimization of Wi-Fi networks.
• Interface with internal businesses customers and contractors & vendors
• Evaluate new platforms, tools, and technologies to provide a better service.
• Familiar with common monitoring and alerting systems and comfortable with syslog, SNMP, and telemetry
• Willing to travel and work off-hours as required.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for troubleshooting and escalations.

Desired Characteristics:

• General passion for building and experimenting with technology and wired and Wi-Fi networks.
• 802.11ax & Wi-Fi 6Ghz knowledge.
• Experience designing and deploying high-density AP and client deployments.
• Experience with scripting and automation with Python or another language.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of the Cisco Wi-Fi portfolio.
• Understanding wired networking concepts and experience with various Cisco OS’ such as IOS/XE/XR/NX
• Experience supporting OTT streaming and IoT devices.
• Proficient with Windows & MacOS and Linux.
• Proficiency with vCenter and Hyper-V.

Additional Requirements:

• Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
