Job Description
The NBC/Telemundo owned station in San Diego, number one in the market, is looking for a meteorologist for a primary Monday through Friday position. This is a critical role that requires understanding of the area’s many climate zones and the ability to communicate with an audience experiencing very different weather patterns. It isn’t always sunny and 72 degrees. Santa Ana winds, mountain snowstorms, monsoon rains, even the occasional tropical storm make this a dynamic and difficult area to forecast. We are also on the leading edge of climate change issues with some of the nation’s top researchers based at our local institutions.
General Responsibilities:
Monitor the weather wire to ascertain news weather developments.
Gather and research weather information from various sources.
Prepare weather forecasts based on material assembled from various sources.
Record and deliver promotional announcements when assigned
Active community participation.
Create weather graphics and operate weather equipment
Provide information on all platforms: broadcast and digital
Perform live interviews and/or live demonstrations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
