    Job Description

    NBCUniversal Local is looking for an experienced audience professional to deepen engagement with our suite of digital news products across NBCU’s 12 Owned and Operated television stations, 31 Telemundo own stations and 5 Regional Sports Networks.

    The candidate will work closely with product, analytics and editorial to understand what features and content are attracting and engaging audiences, then deploy tactics to move loyal and engaged brand fans down the funnel. This role reports directly to Sr Director of Audience Development and Operations and manages the audience retention team that focuses on loyalty products (email, mobile app, OTT apps, etc.) and identifies new ways to retain and engage our audience.

    The ideal candidate is an audience “scientist” – curious thinker, tester and learner, passionate about consumer products and driving growth. Understanding of technical SEO is desired but not required.

    Responsibilities:

    • Create, implement, and iterate engagement strategies via product features, calls to action, and content.
    • Oversee digital audience retention strategy, including owning growth strategy for key loyalty products like mobile apps and newsletters and managing a small team.
    • Develop tactics for driving audiences to high priority off-platform products like FAST Channels and streaming, especially around editorial tentpoles.
    • *Collaborate with analytics and marketing to build cohort and loyalty models and translate findings into tactics that can be scaled across our family of brands.
    • Analyze products, features, and tactics across the marketplace to help identify table stakes and areas of opportunity
    • Collaborate with product and marketing teams to develop, support and update MarTech infrastructure.
    • Help to devise a content ecosystem across our products – from text, video, streaming, podcasts, and more – to drive consumers across platforms and create immersive storytelling experiences
    • Act as a key stakeholder in developing and executing our first-party data initiatives.
    • Report on results by product and tactic to inform stakeholders, determine go-forward strategies.
    • Translate successful experiments into strategic initiatives that can be scaled across our family of brands and newsrooms across the country.
    • Create and present trainings to central and local teams on a regular basis.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • 3+ years of professional experience working in an editorial, audience, social or SEO-focused role in a newsroom setting
    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism preferred or related technical discipline prefered
    • Experience coordinating teams across multiple markets in planning-related duties
    • Excellent organization skills and proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Experience building audiences
    • Strong news judgement
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and deadlines
    • Proficiency with social media platforms (i.e. Twitter, Facebook)
    • Experience with one data platform (i.e. Adobe Analytics)
    • Familiarity in Google Trends, Socialflow and Slack
