Job Description
NBC News Digital is seeking an experienced journalist to work on breaking news coverage during critical evening and weekend hours. This hybrid reporting/editing role will be part of a larger weekend team including reporters, editors, platforms, and social who are responsible for delivering an engaging and trustworthy report.
This hybrid role requires a strong line editor who can also write breaking news stories or live blog posts. The right candidate is able to seamlessly jump between reporting and line editing from day to day or within a shift.
The ideal candidate should also be a team player ready to contribute in whatever fashion is needed at that moment.
Digital’s breaking news team covers a wide spectrum of topics, including extreme weather, entertainment, sports, business, health, online or pop culture, crime and anything else that our audience expects. This editor should be familiar with editing and assigning urgent, distinct and exclusive journalism and should be comfortable editing stories from the serious to the lighthearted.
The ideal candidate will also have experience with live coverage and know when readers will be best served with a live blog on a story.
This role will work closely with other editors and senior leaders in NBC Digital. The right candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment. This role will be based in New York or Los Angeles.
