    Job Description

    The VP, Network Architecture, Engineering and Automation is a strategic, collaborative, and highly visible leader responsible for leading teams in the design, build, and support of NBCUniversal’s Enterprise Backbone, campus networks used for video workflows and networks specific to high bitrate uncompressed video, company-wide LAN, WAN, Telecom, and Fiber. This senior leader drives excellence by championing continuous improvement, cultivating innovation, ensuring transparency, demonstrating clear alignment with business stakeholders, and contributing to the enterprise strategy, governance, and architecture.

    The VP of Network Architecture, Engineering and Automation will lead a Global team, reporting into the SVP of Global Network and Distribution Engineering.   This role is ideally located in Denver, CO.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    •      Ensure consistent delivery and operation of high-quality networking solutions, services and support to internal and external clients

    •      Identify, design, implement and maintain effective policies, procedures, tools, techniques and plans relating to network service level management activities

    •      End-to-end ownership of the Broadcast video network, LAN, WAN, and automation tools.

    •      Lead the definition and architecture of Distribution Networks and Backbone Services to support innovative solutions for internal business partners

    •      Collaborate with O&T leadership and operational clients to develop both short- and long-range strategic technology planning

    •      Focus on building a strong engineering team, with a healthy mix of managerial support, architects, strategy, and innovative engineering teams

    •      Partner with the NBCU cyber security team to build repeatable systems with security best practices

    •      Build relationships with key technology leads across O&T and NBCU business segments to collaborate on and promote consistent architectural best practices

    •      Work closely with operations teams, clients and executive management both formally and informally to track timelines, manage priorities and schedules, and set client expectations

    •      Understand complex IT, media and business problems and apply technology and product portfolio knowledge to solve customer problems in a consultative manner

    •      Evaluate new technologies, support POCs/prototyping, and participate in the development of new service offerings

    •      Manage budgeting and proposal efforts by ensuring completion of project business cases, cost-benefit analyses, resource plans, and project schedules

    •      Verify areas of responsibility are operating within budget by monitoring labor, software, and hardware costs across all projects and activities.

    •      Provide regular direction, coaching, and guidance to the team for strategic, project, and operational efforts

    •      Inspire team to exceed expectations, encourage employee growth through professional development, groom team member capabilities via active coaching, and identify skill/ability mismatches

    •      Drive innovation with advance networking concepts and strategy, automation and AI, zero-trust.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    •      15+ years in related field, with at least 7 years in a management role

    •      Extensive infrastructure technology experience, especially in the formulation of strategy and roadmaps, as well as associated standards, policies and frameworks

    •      Extensive experience with video workflows and high bitrate uncompressed video

    •      Experience in agile software development, automated testing, and DevOps

    •      Minimum 10 years’ experience developing and delivering complex technology architecture on enterprise level/scale

    •      Deep understanding of application and infrastructure technologies (video workflow, compute, storage, network, database, web, integration, virtualization, firewalls, load balancers, cloud hosting, service mesh, connectivity)

    •      Expertise working on a team with motivated cross-functional individuals focused on a common goal of delivering innovative solutions to meet aggressive business demands in an ever-changing environment to achieve on-time and on budget completion of projects.

    •      Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to relate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences

    •      Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Excel, Project or related applications

    •      Must be willing to work evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays with little or/no notice depending on production schedules

    •      B.S. degree in Computer Science/Electronics/Engineering or related field
