    Job Description

    Academic Year Internship Program:

    • Program Dates : September 16, 2024 – April 18, 2025
    • Time Commitment : 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

    The Entertainment Group develops and schedules the network’s primetime, late-night, and daytime entertainment programming, including USA, SYFY, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, and Universal Kids. NBC’s quality programs and balanced line-up have earned the network critical acclaim, numerous awards and ratings success, including most recently winning the traditional September-to-May season in primetime’s key demo, marking the network’s third win in four years. NBC has earned more Emmy Awards than any network in television history.

    Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

    • Audience Growth & Acquisition: Assist in ad hoc data requests from various stakeholders including product, editorial, and social, perform various analyses related to site traffic and content consumption, create dashboards and slide decks to summarize findings from relevant analyses
    • Broadcast Entertainment Research : The NBCE Cross-Platform Insights & Analytics team acts as the main source of data and information on all things broadcast entertainment, providing program performance tracking, forecasting, business and brand strategy, portfolio optimization, and all forms of research-based guidance. Interns will have the opportunity to create custom reports, analyze linear and digital reporting and dashboards, share relevant insights with stakeholders, work with linear and Peacock / streaming data, use multiple research platforms and dashboards including Nielsen and NBCU proprietary research tools, assist in daily & weekly reporting, including report creation and publication, sharing ad-hoc insights, and creating insights and visuals, and more
    • Programming Research : Work on multiplatform ratings research across NBCU cable entertainment networks (Bravo, E!, Oxygen, USA, SYFY, and Universal Kids) along with the streaming landscape, use various Nielsen ratings and audience measurement tools, along with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint on a daily basis, pitch in on ad hoc requests and ongoing long-term brand strategy projects, participate in and observe various meetings, both within our department and with clients, and more
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements :

    • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2024 through April 2025). December 2024 graduates are not eligible for our 2024-2025 Academic Year Program.
    • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States throughout the entire duration of the internship (September 2024 to April 2025). Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
    • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 16, 2024 to April 18, 2025.
    • Must be working from a location within a U.S. state during all hours worked.

    Desired Characteristics :

    • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
    • Affinity for numbers & large data sets.
    • Knowledge of TV Ratings, Nielsen, or data visualization tools like Tableau preferred.
    • Self-starter with a true love of television and a keen interest in learning about the business.
    • Awareness and interest in current entertainment across linear and streaming.
    • Detail oriented and enthusiasm to learn!

    The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $30.00.

    The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $35.00.

    INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ATTENDING U.S. UNIVERSITIES :

    To participate in NBCUniversal’s 2024-2025 Academic Year internship program, you must confirm at the time of interview that you will be able to provide US work authorization documentation for the entire duration of the internship. Since the NBCU Academic Year Internship Program spans the traditional “Fall” and “Spring” semesters, you should talk to the DSO at your school’s International Students Services Office about your need to apply for CPT work authorization twice to ensure you are authorized to work both semesters and throughout the entirety of the program.

    Please also note that future visa sponsorship at NBCUniversal is rarely available for post-grad employment opportunities.
