    Responsibilities

    The NBCU Operations & Technology Division has an opportunity for a talented individual to join their Technical Operations team as a Manager, Production & Technical Operations . You will be responsible for providing front-line management of personnel, facilities, equipment, operations and technology supporting News operations at Rockefeller Center for control rooms, which contains technical directors, audio operators, video lighting operators, and assistant directors. You will oversee day to day technical and logistical requirements of on-air programming while working with operations management and scheduling to ensure staffing requirements are met throughout the day. An understanding of technology changes in control room operations such as IP infrastructure, resolution changes, concepts of shared resources for both audio and video is imperative to drive a reliable operation.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Manage a team of direct reports, which includes hiring, performance reviews and maintaining bench strength for Video, Lighting and Robotic Cameras and Associate Directors.
    • Front line management for day-to-day operations.
    • Assist in the strategic financial planning process and the development and tracking of short and long-term budgets.
    • Maintain technical and broadcast quality.
    • Assess workflow changes for increased reliability.
    • Follow up on all reliability tickets with engineering and operations.
    • Ensure efficient utilization of company resources within a fast paced rapidly changing environment.
    • Work with scheduling and operations management to identify efficiencies in the daily schedule.
    • Work closely with engineering to ensure all equipment meets client expectations.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • 7+ years of experience in engineering support and operational experience in broadcast studio and production control room.
    • 5+ years of experience with field/remote production processes and equipment (including satellite/telco and communications) experience.
    • Must have managerial skills; technical crew management is a plus.
    • Solid leadership, clear communication, excellent interpersonal, and team building skills required.
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
    • Must understand digital production and file-based workflows in FCP environment
    • Must have proficient computer skills, including Apple, Outlook, MS Word, Excel.
    • Must have strong administrative and organizational skills.
    • Strong on-air operations and technical background
    • Ability to work all shifts including days, overnights, weekends and holidays
    • Deep working knowledge with control room and studio technology
    • Demonstrated management experience and customer focused.
    • Excellent team facilitation and knowledge of team problem solving techniques
    • Ability to Facilitate change, serve as a change agent in the organization
    • Excellent ability to manage multiple tasks and challenges at the same time
    • Excellent written and verbal communication
    • Must be willing to work in New York, NY
    • Must be able to work weekends, overnights, holidays, and on call as needed
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
    • This manager will expected to be on a bi-weekly rotational schedule

    ** Desired Characteristics**

    • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Engineering or equivalent field.
    • Work well under pressure, including tight deadlines.
    • Clear communication skills with the ability to be effective across diverse groups throughout the company and external vendors.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Success in management of represented personnel and knowledge of relevant collective bargaining agreements with NABET, IATSE, and DGA.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Required On-Site : This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

    Salary Range: $90,000 - $135,000 (bonus eligible)
