    Job Description

    Academic Year Internship Program:

    • Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.
    • Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from 1 Blachley Road in Stamford, CT.

    Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

    Production & Editorial:

    • Digital Video Production – this intern will edit highlights and clips shows in Avid for use across digital platforms, along with assisting studio production needs and requests.

    • Features Production – the award-winning NBC Sports Features unit produces best-in-class content for the Olympic Games and all NBC Sports Group properties. The team crafts compelling sports stories through athlete features, documentaries, show opens, branded content, promos, and a variety of other creative mediums.

    • Graphics Integration – this team is looking for a creative intern that will implement graphic and animated elements for The NBC Sports Group including Network graphics, show packages, event insert graphics and titles.

    • Olympic Production – this intern will work to produce video content for Olympic sports, both during the Games and between them, and publish that content to NBC’s digital platforms.

    • Olympic Digital Video Production – as a team player, you will join an immensely collaborative environment with the opportunity to work on high quality sports television projects. The ideal candidate thrives on developing new skills and has an interest or experience in working in sports television production.

    • NBC Sports Programming – the Programming Intern provides support to all divisions within the programming department. Responsibilities range from information gathering and organization to data entry to show screening. The GOLF Programming Intern assists in the following areas: program information, program scheduling, program operations and international relations.

    Operations:

    • Olympic Operations – under the direction of the SVP, Olympic Operations, the Olympic Operations team is comprised of subgroups of Features Production Management, Games Event Management, and Production Operations. Collaborating with Olympics partners in Engineering and Production, this group is exposed to all facets of organizing and executing NBC’s broadcast of the Olympic Games.

    • Remote Operations – this team is responsible for supporting Sports productions, focusing on planning, organizing, and executing logistics. Additionally, there is a responsibility to ensure the event(s) budget(s) are upheld for NBC Sports Group. The operations team must be able to quickly and efficiently resolve challenges that arise while partnering with their Production counterparts. The Operations department offers high level exposure to Sports TV production.

    • Technical Logistics – this intern will interact with internal customers at our facilities support window facilitating their support needs with a high level of service and support. This includes production support requests, shipping, shipment tracking, supply distribution, asset management support and other facility support needs.

    _Research & Editorial: _

    • NBCSports.com News Desk – the intern will play an important role on our team primarily publishing video across various platforms (NBCSports.com, YouTube, NBC Sports app, GolfChannel.com, Peacock, etc.) and updating NBCSports.com with fresh video/written content regularly. Our team is responsible for coordinating with the video team, blog writers, and social team for ensuring all video/written content is delivered in a timely and accurate manner, with a focus on SEO and engaging titles.

    Basic Requirements:

    • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2024 through April 2025). December 2024 graduates are not eligible for our 2024-2025 Academic Year Program.
    • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States throughout the entire duration of the internship (September 2024 to April 2025). Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
    • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 16, 2024 to April 18, 2025.
    • Must be willing to work in Stamford, CT.

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

    The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $17.00.

    The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $18.00.

    INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ATTENDING U.S. UNIVERSITIES:

    To participate in NBCUniversal’s 2024-2025 Academic Year internship program, you must confirm at the time of interview that you will be able to provide US work authorization documentation for the entire duration of the internship. Since the NBCU Academic Year Internship Program spans the traditional “Fall” and “Spring” semesters, you should talk to the DSO at your school’s International Students Services Office about your need to apply for CPT work authorization twice to ensure you are authorized to work both semesters and throughout the entirety of the program.

    Please also note that future visa sponsorship at NBCUniversal is rarely available for post-grad employment opportunities.
