    Job Description

    ABOUT THE ROLE: Dually reporting to the EVP, Inclusion – Talent & Content for Global Talent Development & Inclusion (GTDI) and the EVP, Global Communications & Media Relations, this role will support two fast-paced, constantly evolving departments within the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) organization. This position will work closely with both EVPs to elevate the Studio’s DEI and CSR/social impact strategies.

    Primarily, this role will oversee GTDI’s Communications & Marketing function, managing the department’s internal and external communications and marketing presence by amplifying the team’s strategies, experiences and partnerships to key internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, this position will support the Global Communications team with editorial planning, major content writing projects and serve as the primary communications liaison for all DEI and CSR/social impact issues and stakeholders across UFEG, NBCUniversal and all other key stakeholders.

    _ _JOINT RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with the GTDI and Global Communications leadership to establish studio executives as major thought leaders, both in entertainment and across the overall business, social and political ecosystem, focusing on inclusion in major events, speaking opportunities, boards, committees, and other relevant opportunities
    • Act as a leader among the GTDI and Global Communications teams, ensuring alignment and cohesion among external communications/media relations, speaking opportunities and events
    • Actively pursue and prioritize media opportunities, prepare talking points, speeches, presentations and other supporting material to promote the studio brand among target audiences
    • Strategic oversight of the DEI communications umbrella platform Make It Universal by creating a connective and amplifying strategy for DEI ongoing efforts including, but not limited to GTDI, Global Communications, People Experience, UFEG’s business-led Inclusion Committee and NBCUniversal corporate.

    GTDI RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create and implement strategies to elevate GTDI’s external presence raising awareness of NBCU’s overall DEI commitment, as well as GTDI programs and alumni success stories
    • Build and sustain relationships with key press members covering DEI, and identify opportunities for GTDI DEI trend stories and potential participation in industry-wide DEI thought leadership opportunities
    • Oversee GTDI’s content strategy and distribution efforts across owned (GTDI website and social channels), shared (internal communications and partnerships communications), earned (media outlets, blogs, byline articles) and paid (sponsored content, advertorials, search, conferences) marketing and communications channels
    • Partner with internal communications across UFEG and NBCU for relevant DEI and GTDI content for cross-promotional efforts
    • Create diverse talent campaigns increasing awareness of GTDI talent and alumni
    • Continue to cultivate relationships with key Inclusion Committee members to maintain a solid partnership
    • Create and edit DEI communications materials in partnership with UFEG Global Communications leads, including announcements, press releases, executive messaging, Q&A, speeches, program descriptions, articles and bios
    • Create crisis communication strategies tied to DEI sensitivities in partnership with UFEG Global Communications team, and NBCU corporate as needed
    • Act as liaison between GTDI and other NBCU divisions regarding relevant internal and external events/opportunities, communication strategies and systems/processes that lead to synergies
    • Oversee the collection and organization of data for GTDI surveys and research
    • Support the EVP of Inclusion—Talent & Content in the efforts to build world-class teams to drive success in a high-performance culture

    GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS & MEDIA RELATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support the development of communication plans, content and collateral, crisis and change management messaging, speaking opportunities and other special projects
    • Provide strategic counsel to the EVP & SVP, Communications, and senior UFEG leadership on business priorities, social and reputational issues, competitive intelligence, and evolving trends, particularly as they pertain to DEI and CSR/social impact
    • Drive the strategic communications plan for articulating UFEG’s comprehensive DEI and CSR strategy to key internal and external stakeholders, including filmmakers, distributors, talent, as well as non-profit and corporate partners, to facilitate cross-industry collaborations and socialize impact campaign plans
    • Serve as the primary strategic communications liaison between Global Communications and GTDI, UFEG’s Inclusion Committee, Human Resources & People Experiences, NBCUniversal Corporate Affairs and Diversity teams
    • Maintain a clear editorial opportunities calendar for lists, awards, features, events, etc., and develop relevant pitches and submissions, as necessary.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 7+ years of professional experience - communications, marketing, publicity in either TV or Film departments, agencies or firms
    • An organic connection to DEI, storytelling and production.
    • Proven ability to effectively communicate as well as initiate and sustain relationships in a corporate culture, particularly with senior-level executives.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with visual design instincts.
    • Excellent organization, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to adapt and anticipate potential needs in a very fast-paced environment while managing a heavy workload
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and advanced PowerPoint as well as Adobe Photoshop and PDFs
