    Description

    The Product Owner is responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of data projects within NBC Sports Next. They will provide active ownership of day-to-day tasks including but not limited to: facilitating internal/external stakeholder meetings, gathering product requirements, writing bugs/user stories, and maintaining an organized backlog.

    The Product Owner is expected to collaborate on data-related projects with stakeholders across the business including Product, Sales, Finance, Activation, Support, Engineering and Data teams to ensure immediate needs as well as long-term priorities are met while staying aligned with NBC Sports Next's overall B2B business strategy.

    Responsibilities

    • Be required to understand internal/external stakeholder data needs as well as business objectives and translate those into technical requirements
    • Prioritize and maintain a backlog of data-related items across multiple products/teams
    • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to lead and manage through the agile development process
    • Create and develop documentation for new and existing product functionality within the portfolio
    • Act as a functional product SME, as well as a functionality/feature evangelist to build awareness and understanding
    • Proactively identify and work collaboratively to resolve product issues
    • Lead and participate in agile product ceremonies such as sprint planning and backlog grooming/prioritization
    • Provide regular written/verbal updates to leadership regarding status of data-related projects

    Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

    • Experience navigating/querying SQL databases
    • Ability to communicate complex concepts and ideas clearly and concisely with both internal and external stakeholders
    • Experience leading projects from ideation through completion
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make informed decisions upon analysis
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Strong presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment
    • Experience providing project status updates to management
    • Understanding of a product's life cycle, with a specific focus on the development and implementation phases
    • Ability to think and work autonomously

    Desired Characteristics

    • Proven track record with a minimum of 1 year in agile product-related role, demonstrating successful end-to-end product delivery
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
    • Strong background documenting bugs and writing user stories/requirements
    • Experience with collaboration/planning tools such as Confluence and JIRA
    • Experience leading and motivating teams
    • Experience/knowledge of point-of-sale technology/industry
    • Experience/knowledge of golf course operations
    • Experience working with cloud-based technology
