    Job Description

    The VP, Controllership Filmed Entertainment Group – HQ Studio Support will lead core accounting and control activities for Domestic Theatrical, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Canada, and HQ-led financial statement components including domestic theatrical and episodic animation licensing accounts receivable, leases, intercompany, fixed assets, and investments.  The role will also drive controllership strategic initiatives across these groups in alignment with the objectives set forth by the CFO and Controller, while also focusing on the development of the related Controllership teams.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Build, maintain and enhance a strong Controllership group providing world class consolidation, reporting, technical and general accounting services throughout the Filmed Entertainment Group
    • Key leader on HQ team collectively responsible for the Filmed Entertainment Segment monthly and quarterly close processes and subsequent financial reporting to NBCU Corporate
    • Work closely with Film HQ Financial Planning & Analysis team during the close process, aligning timelines and reporting objectives
    • Proactively identify and implement solutions that mitigate risk areas, driving distributed controllership throughout the Filmed Entertainment Group through balance sheet reviews, key metric analysis and regular controllership communication
    • Maintain a strong and appropriately collaborative working relationship with business unit Controllers and CFOs, NBCU Corporate Controllership teams, and cross-functional business and Corporate partners ensuring business and controllership operational, strategic and team objectives are clearly defined, communicated, prioritized and delivered.
    • Develop Director and Manager level staff, leading by example with a strong work ethic and providing meaningful goals and objectives as well as thoughtful and timely feedback on performance levels; help talent consider, plan and implement long-term careers at NBCU
    • Maintain a strong and appropriately collaborative working relationship with business unit Controllers and CFOs, NBCU Corporate Controllership teams, and cross-functional business and Corporate partners ensuring business and controllership operational, strategic and team objectives are clearly defined, communicated, prioritized and delivered
    • Drive process and internal control improvement, simplification and standardization via globalization of current processes, procedures and technologies
    • Key participant in maintaining relationships with the Internal and External audit teams, assuring the timeliness and accuracy of required deliverables
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Minimum 12 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or related field
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field such as economics
    • Experience in managing teams in a Global Environment with prior experience in Global consolidation processes
    • Technical accounting skills, including the ability to interpret and apply accounting standards and policies to business transactions
    • Internal controls and accounting process and systems experience, including maintenance of Sarbanes-Oxley control environment

    Desired Qualifications:

    • CPA or equivalent strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated background and knowledge of US GAAP strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated process and system awareness, including ability to identify and mitigate risks
    • Strong communication skills and pro-active approach to building and sustaining collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders
    • Ability to work in a fast, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities
    • Strong leadership skills and ability and desire to work across multiple departments
    • Interest in the media and entertainment industry
