    Job Description

    Content Distribution is a division of NBCUniversal, one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news, and information to a global audience. Content Distribution drives the North American distribution of NBCUniversal’s multi-billion dollar television portfolio to all multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs), Online Video Distributors (OVDs), and other mobile and emerging platforms. A key revenue-generator, the division oversees the distribution of the Olympics on cable and retransmission consent for NBC and Telemundo owned stations and leads the content strategy and development for offerings that include video-on-demand (VOD) and TV Everywhere (TVE).

    This group oversees the MVPD distribution and marketing of 20 cable and regional sports networks (Bravo, CNBC, CNBC World, MSNBC, SyFy, Telemundo, USA, Oxygen, E!, Golf Channel, Unikids, Universo, NECN, Bay Area, California, Chicago, Washington, Boston, New York, and Philadelphia), the Olympics, the NBC and Telemundo Owned and Operated broadcast networks and all local NBC affiliate stations. 

    The NBCU Content Distribution finance team manages all strategic and financial planning, controllership, billing and collections for this high growth business.

    ROLE PURPOSE

    The Sr. Financial Account Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate reflection of revenue and subscriber information for both their individually assigned accounts as well as their teams assigned accounts within the Content Distribution Finance department for all NBCUniversal national cable and regional sports networks, Olympics and the NBC and Telemundo Owned and Operated broadcast networks, as well as any future acquisitions. This position will manage all financial and contractual aspects of a diversified affiliate account portfolio and ensure a timely monthly billing close.  This position will ensure that NBCU’s Contract Compliance process is properly adhered to for both their assigned key accounts as well as their team’s accounts. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • On a monthly basis, proactively manage their assigned key accounts as it relates to NBCU Content Distribution’s Contract Compliance process.  Ensure all related financial aspects are analyzed, reviewed, documented and communicated with appropriate Sales team.  Provide all requested adhoc financial analysis as it relates to assigned key account on a timely basis (i.e. contractual penetration, carriage requirements, audit analysis, etc).  Ensure all internal Finance related processes are documented by required deadlines. 
    • Provide Sales team leads relevant suggestions for assigned accounts to improve contract language as it relates to key financial terms as deals come up for expiration, namely subscriber definitions, bad debt and gratis provisions, contractual reporting requirements, licensee fees, subscriber carve outs and audit language. 
    • Manage all financial aspects of account portfolio and maintain the upmost integrity of the information in the Medea affiliate database.  Manage monthly billing close requirements to ensure accurate and timely revenue and subscriber recognition. Ensure thorough and complete understanding of affiliate agreements for assigned accounts and that all contractual terms are properly applied in affiliate database.
    • Demonstrate cross-functional expertise in accrual-based revenue accounting, billing, accounts receivable, cash management, collections, and contract management.
    • Manage revenue and reconciliation process for account portfolio in the affiliate database.  Maintain data and all aspects of database relating to portfolio, including basic/service and pay-on subscribers, uploading and reconciling remittances, launch authorizations, DMA information, system merges, drops, splits, ownership changes, carriage changes, contract changes, variance analysis, and other related tasks.
    • Maintain thorough understanding of assigned portfolio’s key customers packaging and pricing strategy as it relates to the subscribers reported to NBCU. 
    • Provide timely and appropriate support to Vice President as needed for monthly reporting and ad-hoc analysis. Develop reporting templates to support ongoing monthly processes which will enable up to the minute trend analysis for the key accounts. Provide additional reports and ad-hoc support for Affiliate Sales, Client Service groups and Corporate Finance on an as-needed basis.
    • Provide in-depth, accurate and relevant subscriber and revenue data as it relates to your assigned portfolio to assist all internal clients: Networks, Finance, Legal, Affiliate Sales/Marketing and Operations.
    • Manage Network subscriber fee Accounts Receivables balances as assigned, ensuring timely review, follow up and action to minimize aged balances, in accordance with NBC’s current disconnect policy.      
    • Assist FP&A team in the preparation of assigned portfolio annual budgets/forecasts and quarterly forecasts/ pacing updates (as requested).  Demonstrate thorough understanding of the monthly and quarterly variances of actuals to estimates/forecasts.  Maintain through understanding of assigned key accounts current budgets, estimates and pacing as provided by FP&A group and provide financial analysis when required to explain material variances. 
    • Develop and maintain exceptional business relationships with both external customers and internal customers (Networks, Legal, Sales/Marketing, Finance and Operations) in order to provide superior customer service.
    • Supervisory responsibilities over team of Financial Account Managers and/or Financial Analysts
    • Assist in the selection and training of new team members. In addition, take a leadership role on task forces and committees designed to improve business processes.
    • Provide assistance for NBCU Controllership policies and procedures as they relate to required SOX testing and balance sheet reconciliations. 
    • Assist Vice President in all matters related to annual Audit schedule of assigned accounts to ensure each audit is closed in a timely fashion.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
    • Minimum 5-6 years previous experience in financial analysis, contract interpretation, billing and accounts receivable systems

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Experience with P&L, Balance sheet, and General ledger
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Experience with SAP G/L software
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
    • Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
    • Broad experience with database management and information retrieval, i.e. OLAP
    • Strong customer service background
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience with Medea database
    • Financial modeling a plus
