The Team

NBCUniversal’s Cyber Threat Operations team is responsible for providing cyber threat intelligence, event monitoring, incident response, threat hunting, and detection for all areas of NBCUniversal in a highly collaborative, fast paced, and agile fashion. As a member of NBCU Threat Intelligence, a candidate can expect to apply their technical expertise to Threat Operations in a variety of ways.

Cyber intelligence analysts utilize threat intelligence to mitigate any potential data threats and defend data. Ingest and process threat intelligence data including indicators of compromise, threat actor information, internal event data to enhance Detection capabilities. The threat intelligence team aggregates this data and performs additional analysis. It is important that the data is reviewed, and additional context provided, such as, severity, confidence level, source, date, count of indicator, and if it is known to be associated with any suspicious activity.

Responsibilities

• Develop traditional and non-traditional intelligence strategies against threats facing NBCU
• Develop and deliver threat intelligence reports to technical and executive staff
• Distinguish and track cyber threat groups, focusing on methodology and capability
• Investigate and integrate internal and external intelligence sources and feeds into other information security groups
• Curate intelligence feed sources and Indicator of Compromise validation for confidence level
• Develop meaningful intelligence capabilities

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in an IT or Intelligence related field and/or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years working in Cyber Security with experience in Security Operations Centers, Incident Response, Cyber Intelligence, or similar functions
• Previous experience supporting cyber intelligence functions
• Experience with threat intelligence lifecycle, threat actor attribution, and threat mitigation
• Tactical, operational, and strategic knowledge of the cyber threat landscape to include different types of adversaries, campaigns, and motivations
• Ability to correlate internal and external intelligence
• Knowledge of industry recognized security and analysis frameworks (Mitre ATT&CK, Kill Chain, Diamond Model, NIST Incident Response, etc.)
• Ability to query and build intelligence watchlists for proactive monitoring and correlation of internal log data

Desired Characteristics

• Experience with industry Threat Intelligence Platform (ThreatConnect, Anomali Threatstream, etc.)
• Leverage security architecture and tools to identify or create threat mitigations
• Strong communication (both verbal and written) with experience briefing corporate executives and professionals
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with a high level of analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to anticipate and respond to changing priorities and operate effectively in a dynamic demand-based environment

Additional Requirements

This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.
