    Job Description

    _THIS IS A PART-TIME PROJECT / LIMITED TERM POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF UP TO 6 - 12 MONTHS, UNLESS OTHERWISE AMENDED OR TERMINATED AS DELIVERABLES WITHIN THIS PROJECT ARE COMPLETED. _

    Responsibilities

    RESEARCH

    • Develop, compile, and circulate information about sports teams and athletes across NBC platforms, including but not limited to the USFL and Big 10 football
    • Contribute written prep material, including game notes and aggregated clips packets for upcoming on-air broadcasts
    • Work with producers and researchers to develop story ideas
    • Ensure written accuracy, assisting with fact checking various scripts and graphics
    • Other duties include contributing to production and editorial meetings, creating and writing a daily research and story memo for production and talent, and responding to specific research requests
    • Researchers are expected to become experts in the stories, athletes, rules, results, and histories of the sports and properties they cover

    QB STATS

    • Set up, operate & monitor the data interface between stadium and production truck that will feed live in-game statistics, scores and clock data for USFL & Big 10 football games
    • Build team roster databases & statistical info that will interface with live in-game data to provide graphics and feed the score bug
    • Operate the “QB stats” machine that houses all of the live in-game data and disperses it to the graphics machine, score bug and virtual down & distance marker during the game.
    • Work and collaborate with the graphics team that will also include the graphics pa & score bug operator throughout the week to come up with ideas for graphical elements to implement in the show.
    • Ideal candidate is someone with passion for sports & statistics, effective communicator, attention to detail and can work in fast paced environment.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent work experience

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Sound editorial judgment and clear, efficient writing ability
    • Strong background in journalism - specifically, experience as a senior writer or editor at a college or professional daily newspaper or top line magazine
    • Experience with providing sports information for on-air broadcasters
    • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, sustain focus on assigned duties and multi-task
    • Solid working knowledge of various research sources and methods
    • Knowledgeable in football, specifically at the collegiate level a plus
