The Role
We are seeking experienced, detail-oriented NCLEX Item Writers with a strong background in nursing education to develop high-quality, Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) items. This is a remote, contract-based opportunity ideal for professionals currently engaged in academic nursing who are passionate about contributing to the success of future nurses.
Responsibilities
Develop Next Generation NCLEX-style items aligned with current NCSBN guidelines and test plan.
Create clinical judgment case studies, bowtie items, and other innovative NGN item types.
Ensure content is clear, accurate, evidence-based, and reflects real-world clinical scenarios.
Revise and refine items based on feedback from the editorial and content review teams.
Review and provide feedback on items written by other team members.
Collaborate with other item writers, editors, and subject matter experts as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Currently teaching in a nursing program (ADN, BSN, or higher).
Minimum of 2 years experience in academic nursing education.
Evidence of NGN items you have previously written (required).
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Familiarity with the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (CJMM).
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with NGN NCLEX item development or test prep content creation.
Excellent written communication and critical thinking skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a remote setting.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent; Nursing Education focus a plus
