    Job Overview

    We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior R&D Engineer with a focus on adjacent processes to join our esteemed Research and Development team. You will play a key role in our research initiatives, focusing on the exploration and optimization of processes that complement our core technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers and researchers, contributing to the advancement of novel solutions within our organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Contribute to the exploration and development of supercritical CO2 power cycle with poly-generation that aligns with our organization's goals and expertise.
    • Collaborate with Chief Innovation Officer to identify opportunities for innovation in related fields.
    • Perform Aspen process modeling to evaluate the feasibility and performance of new processes.
    • Partner with the equipment supplier and perform techno-economic analysis of the proposed processes.
    • Perform life cycle analysis of the proposed processes.
    • Work with Chief Innovation Officer to develop the technology development roadmap and the project execution plan.
    • Conduct the patent filings for the novel integrated processes.
    • Collaborate with teams from various disciplines to integrate adjacent processes into larger research initiatives.
    • Communicate effectively to ensure alignment with organizational goals and project timelines.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines in laboratory and experimental settings.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.

    This position will sit in our Durham, NC office.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s or higher degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
    • 8+ years of engineering experience in steam methane reforming, auto-thermal reforming, ammonia and urea synthesis, or related chemical industry.
    • Extensive process design and modeling experience, proficiency in Aspen software.
    • Experience in techno-economic analysis, lifecycle analysis and market analysis in blue/green hydrogen technologies.
    • Experience in patent filing.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Eagerness to explore and contribute to innovative solutions in adjacent processes.
    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
    • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to learning from senior team members.
    • Willingness to adapt to new challenges and explore innovative solutions.
    • Demonstrated enthusiasm for contributing to the advancement of technologies in related fields.
