    Accounting Supervisor for HOA Accounting Location - NHE Corporate Office - Greenville, SC

    Summary

    Under regular supervision of the Controller, the Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supervision of the Accounting Specialists/Accounts Payable positions and to manage the day-to-day accounting investment functions of the associations managed by NHE maintaining and producing financial information and accounting tasks of the company accounts and records.

    I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Supervise and support Accounting Specialists and Accounts Payable positions in meeting deadlines.

    Ensure that all Accounting Specialist and Accounts Payable personnel are trained and are enhanced with training.

    Ensure that written performance evaluations of supervised employees are completed as required, provides continuous feedback on personnel performance issues, and takes immediate action to recognize achievements and address deficiencies or problems.

    Research and answer Association Managers’ and/or Board Members’ questions regarding financial statements and owner activity.

    Assist in the development and maintenance of financial systems to insure integrity of finances based on sound accounting procedures and controls.

    Responsible for the operation of all accounting systems and records, including, but not limited to, cash receipts, expenditures, investments, purchasing, inventory, and assets.

    Perform the month end close for associations.

    Maintain accounting files per NHE filing system.

    Review monthly financials for associations.

    Prepare and send monthly financial statements to Association Manager and/or Board.

    Setup new associations in all software programs including but not limited to management software, payables software, banking, document delivery system.

    Review association history before setup to ensure transfer of data is accurate.

    Respond to attorneys regarding association closing documentation and statements.

    Prepare association files for audit as necessary.

    Prepare association files for tax returns as necessary.

    Assist in the preparation of the associations’ annual Budget.

    Assist in maintaining an accurate homeowner database for associations.

    Review homeowner correspondence regarding payment procedures.

    Supervise all month-end and year-end accounting procedures including preparation and entry of journal entries for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger computer systems.

    Inform the Controller of issues and activities related to accounting systems.

    Other duties may be assigned.

    III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supervision and training of the Accounting Specialists/Accounts Payable personnel; managing the day-to-day accounting investment functions of the associations managed by NHE, Inc.; and maintaining and producing financial information and accounting task of the company accounts and records.

    IV. QUALIFICATIONS

    V. EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    Two-year certificate from college or technical school; one to two years general accounting experience required. Two year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    VI. LANGUAGE/MATHEMATICAL/REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
