Job Description

Teaching position in a Japanese bilingual, multicultural and community-based after school program. Plan and conduct project-based learning activities for small and large groups; supervise children both indoors and outdoors; provide homework assistance; maintain classroom; work closely with other teaching staff in a team-teaching work situation; and work with parents and staff in the extracurricular activities of the program.

Qualifications: Previous experience working with school-age children in a large group setting is required. BA in early childhood/education or related field is strongly recommended. Knowledge of the Japanese language and culture is helpful but not required. Flexibility and ability to work well in a close team of teachers is a must.

The position is M-F from 1-6:00pm.  The Program operates during the school year. The position starts on August 16, 2021and goes through the school year ending in early June 2022.  The program then resumes with the following school year.

Nihonmachi Little Friends (NLF) is a private, nonprofit community based organization in operation since October 1975. NLF provides Japanese bilingual, multicultural and educational programs for preschoolers through school-age (K-5th gr.) children in full day and after school programs. Families served represent a broad range of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
