    HOURS: Supports a 7 day a week, 24 hours per day operation to include holidays

    • 8-hour day/night 7:30AM -4:00PM, 3:30PM -Midnight, or 11:30AM -8:00PM.
    • 12-hour PM/Night (7:30PM – 8:00AM) options.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • U.S. Citizen
    • Minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN). New graduates are accepted.
    • Current and valid licenses and certifications.
    • Current certification of CPR. ACLS certification is preferred and may be required in some specialties.
    • Evidence of current required immunizations, inoculations, etc.
    • Current Curriculum Vitae describing educational and professional qualifications.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Shall be capable of performing the full range of nursing services
    • The Inpatient Medicine/Telemetry Unit 3L supports the VA mission in caring for complex veteran populations requiring medical care intervention. This is an acute 28-bed inpatient medicine/telemetry unit that provides nursing care to veterans experiencing acute medical/surgical conditions; patients requiring close 24/7 observation, skilled nursing care, continuous cardiac monitoring, intermittent/continuous cardiac IV medications, close respiratory monitoring and specialized procedures.
    • The 3L RN must have sound clinical judgment and skillsets in independent decision-making based on standards of nursing care.
    • Care is ongoing and encompasses varying states of recuperation from diagnosis to treatment and promotion of health, recovery, or a peaceful death.
    • This goal is accomplished through the prompt detection of emergency conditions; preventing complications associated with disease and disorder; performing required diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; educating patient/family to improve self-care abilities, health maintenance and rehabilitation; and facilitating discharge from the acute care setting.
    • The 3L RN will participate in continuous improvement initiatives, professional governance, and High Reliability Organization (HRO) models of care as part of personal and professional development goals.
    • BLS/ACLS certification is required for this position and can be obtained upon hire
    • Interpretation of Continuous Telemetry monitored patients; can be trained upon hire
    • Compliance with various Isolation Precautions and Infection Control Guidelines
    • Skills in time management, priority setting, assessment and urgent intervention are essential for this unit
    • Administration & Monitoring Medications
    • Diabetic management and teaching
    • Management of gastric, intestinal, and/or percutaneous drainage and feeding tubes
    • Advanced Vascular Access Care and Maintenance
    • Facilitation of Homecare referrals and rehabilitation recommendations to support ongoing veteran needs
    • Demonstrates professional communication and conduct
    • Recognizes and supports Suicide Prevention initiatives
    • Collaborates with multiple disciplines including Social Work, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Laboratory
    • Facilitates Patient and caregiver education and support.
    • Maintains prevention & management of disruptive behavior skills, can be trained upon hire
    • Participation in High Reliability Organization (HRO) & professional governance initiatives
    • Promotes evidence-based best practices and nurse sensitive indicators (including but not limited to Falls Prevention, Hospital Associated Infection Prevention, Medication error prevention, Safe Patient Handling, and Skin Safety)
