  • Responsibilities

    NEEDED: PHYSICIAN(s) – PRIMARY CARE

    RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform onsite Primary Care Physician Services to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Care shall cover the range of Primary Care Services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding, currently recognized national standards.

    • North Charleston Annex – 6450 Rivers Ave, North Charleston SC 29406
    • Beaufort – 1 Pinckney Blvd, Beaufort SC, 29902
    • Myrtle Beach – 1800 Airpark Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
    • Goose Creek – 2418 NNPTC Circle, Goose Creek, SC 29445
    • Hinesville – 500 East Oglethorpe Highway, Hinesville GA 31313
    • Savannah – 1170 Shawnee St, Savannah, GA 31419

    STATUS: 1099 or W2

    SCHEDULE:

    • Currently Normal VA Business Hours: 8:00AM -4:30PM,
    • Clinic or OR Schedule: Monday – Friday
    • Patients must be seen by a physician on-site in a timely manner in accordance with VA Rules and Regulations regarding clinic wait times and consult completion.
    • Physician shall be available and present in clinic during normal Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System clinic hours which will be established, and may be revised, as deemed appropriate for patient care by the Chief of Staff.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • US CITIZEN (We do not sponsor work visas)
    • License: Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia) when services are performed onsite on VA property.
    • All licenses shall be full and unrestricted licenses.
    • Physician(s) who have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract.
    • Board Certification: Shall be Board Certified by the American Board of Medicine (ABFM) or the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
    • Must be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency.
    • All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times.

    Technical Proficiency:

    • Shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
    • Shall provide verifiable evidence of all educational and training experiences including any gaps in educational history
    • Continuing Medical Education (CME)/ Certified Education Unit (CEU) Requirements:
    • Shall provide copies of current CMEs as required or requested by the VAMC.
    • Physician(s) registered or certified by national/medical associations shall continue to meet the minimum standards for CME to remain current .
    • Shall report CME hours to the credentials office for tracking. These documents are required for both privileging and re-privileging.
    • Training (ACLS, BLS, EHR and specific VA mandatory training)
    • National Provider Identifier (NPI ): Is a standard, unique 10-digit numeric identifier required by HIPAA. The Veterans Health Administration must use NPIs in all HIPAA-standard electronic transactions for individual (health care practitioners) and organizational entities (medical centers.
    • DEA: Physician shall provide copy of current DEA certificate.
