    Position Summary:

    Under limited supervision, this position administers COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations to

    underserved populations within DeKalb County. This position works closely with REACH

    Program Coordinator to develop and coordinate initiatives that lead to policy and system-level

    changes in the area of health promotion on behalf of the Health Assessment and Promotion

    department. This candidate will coordinate and support DeKalb County Board of Health

    vaccination efforts throughout DeKalb County. The candidate will serve as the project lead for

    all vaccination initiatives, events, and opportunities. Develops monthly and annual program

    reports to share with stakeholders. Other duties assigned.

    *REACH (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health) grant is funded by the Centers

    for Disease Control and Prevention

    Job Description and Duties:

    Responsible for administering COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations to DeKalb County

    residents.

    Provides education to clients in accordance with current guidelines.

    Assists with the physical setup of mobile vaccination clinics and the preparation of

    materials needed to administer vaccines.

    Participates in outreach events such as health fairs and community events to promote the

    increased rates of vaccinations.

    Assesses and evaluates immunization status and patient need.

    Ensures client records are kept secure, confidential, and compliant with HIPAA

    standards.

    Operates the mobile unit for community vaccination events.

    Monitors patient reaction during the administration of vaccinations.

    Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external partners.

    Works with community organizations, coalitions, schools, and healthcare systems

    to address policy and environmental changes.

    Collaborate with partners to determine community health needs and the

    availability of services and to develop goals for meeting needs.

    Attends required training and other pertinent meetings, organizes lectures, and hosts

    educational conferences and seminars.

    Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading

    appropriate books, journals, and other literature, attending related seminars and

    conferences, and applying pertinent new knowledge to performance of other

    responsibilities.

    Maintains databases, mailing lists, telephone networks, and other information to facilitate

    the functioning of health education programs

    Compiles reports to be submitted to appropriate entities such as local partners, county,

    state, or federal.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing with a valid license in state(s) of

    practice. Two-year experience as a public health nurse OR additional experience in public education.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Advanced degree in nursing public health, health administration, international health, or a

    related field

    Bi-Lingual Proficient skills (Spanish) preferred.

    Experience and commitment to working with diverse communities.

    Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Outlook, Excel,

    and Internet applications

    Must be able to maintain confidentiality with all aspects of information in accordance with

    practice, State, and Federal regulations.

    Work Environment:

    General office setting – The candidate will spend time in the office with telework opportunities.

    Community outreach is a large focus of this position; therefore, the candidate will spend time out

    in the community conducting community outreach and/or supporting outreach events.
