    WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING TO FILL A POTENTIAL POLYSOMNOGRAPHER TECH OPPORTUNITY AS DESCRIBED BELOW:

    POSITION: Sleep Laboratory Technicians also known as Polysomnographer Technologists

    The Polysomnographer Technologist displays proficiency and performs at a level of excellence in all Sleep Diagnostic procedures and other related procedures in accordance with the guidelines established by the American Sleep Disorders Association and American Academy of Sleep Disorders

    LOCATION: 5901 East 7th Street, Long Beach, CA 90822.

    HOURS: FULL TIME OR PRN

    SHIFTS: Days - four 10-hour shifts; Nights - One to three 12-hour shifts

    • The need for the Polysomnographer Technologist is for 24/7 coverage within the Outpatient Sleep Laboratory Service.
    • Provide coverage of the Inpatient Units throughout the Medical Center and in the Sleep Laboratory that require specialized care.
    • The Polysomnographer Technologists will provide instruction and education for sleep lab patients, assist with assessments, preparation of equipment and tests related to treatment of sleep disorders.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Shall be licensed in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
    • MUST HOLD A REGISTERED POLYSOMNOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGIST (RPSGT) credential with current certification.
    • Maintain a current CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) card.
    • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)certification is a condition of employment.
    • Maintain current proficiency and competency standards for hospital and service.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: May include, but are not limited to:

    • Patient instruction and education;
    • Patient assessment related to sleep disorders;
    • Patient setup, calibration and acquisition performance verification;
    • Monitoring of multiple physiological data throughout the test;
    • Troubleshooting of polysomnographic recording equipment;
    • Perform pre and post-test calibrations;
    • Identify and treat sleep related breathing disorders;
    • Recognize the need for medical intervention if patient safety is at risk;
    • Remove, and sterilize electrodes and sensors at completion of study;
    • The staging of the sleep studies;
    • Document all data in CPRS including for scoring;
    • The scoring of sleep studies; must be reliable, able to work independently and be self-motivated.
