    NEEDED: Radiology Technician

    LOCATION: 1200 Texas Street, Houston, TX 77002

    SCHEDULE / HOURS: Monday – Friday between 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • U.S. Citizen
    • Must have completed a formal Radiology Technician Training Program with at least 6 months of course credit and satisfactorily completed internship.
    • Must have at least 1 year of Radiology Technician experience (preferred),
    • Must have a current CPR certification or willingness to obtain one.
    • Shall possess knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures to perform job activities on various types of medical equipment and automated systems and of safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment.
    • Shall possess the ability to relate and deal effectively with Physicians, peers, inmates, and others.
    • Ability to recognize, report, and record changes in patient’s physical and emotional condition.
    • Ability to administer medication.

    ALERT: Failure to submit a current resume, evidence of an ARRT, and CPR may result in elimination from consideration.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff for the inmate population at FDC Houston.
    • Perform routine exams requiring venipuncture with documented training.
    • Work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
    • Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs.
    • Possess knowledge of basic emergency situations that may occur during special radiographic procedures.
    • Schedule inmates and maintain records.
    • Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.
    • Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam.
    • Receive clinic patients and perform / document appropriate vital signs.
    • Independently perform all radiographic procedures, i.e., chest, bone, skull, spines, and portable x-rays, etc.
    • Notify Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while patient is undergoing an exam, so that additional views, or exams can be ordered if needed.
    • Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care.
    • Work with Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.
    • Operate other medical equipment such as EKG, spirometers, and other apparatus with documented training.
    • Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques as they pertain to medical services.
    • Develop a working knowledge of FDC Houston's medical protocols.
    • Wear outer protective clothing and obey CDC universal precautions at all times.
    • Work with the Improving Organizational Performance Coordinator to develop and monitor studies for operational improvement.
    • Function in other duties commensurate of a Radiological Technician.
    • Computerization and printing of daily log.
    • Computerization and printing of exam requisitions.
    • Printing of all folder and exam labels.
    • Completing of all x-ray studies ordered by the medical staff.
    • Assisting the staff with maintenance of equipment and supplies, and notifying staff when supplies are needed.
    • Conducting quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on x-ray equipment as needed.
    • Assisting with FDA inspections and preparation for Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and program review as needed; assuring that all x-ray requests are completed properly; and computerization of patient logs and repeated analysis.
