Payroll/Accounting Specialist Job Summary

NOW Specialties, Inc.—the leading exterior wall system fabricator and installer in Texas—has an immediate opening for a Staff Accountant. The successful candidate will be responsible for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll, with particular long-term emphasis on Payroll.

Duties will include:

• Downloading ExakTime and Time Summit reports, for payroll processing.

• Allocating time as overtime, FFCRA, PSL, PTO, among other classifications.

• Paying, tracking and adjusting advanced per diem, as the need arises.

• Checking expense reimbursements for accuracy and processing expense reports for payment. 

You will be asked to lend your skills to other tasks when the need arises. On occasion you might need to assist with AR or AP, for example. Please note that, during the training period, you will spend significant amounts of time performing each function: AR, AP and Payroll.

DUE TO THE CURRENT COVID-19 CRISIS, THERE WILL BE A SCREENING PROCESS FOR POSSIBLE EXPOSURE, PPE REQUIREMENTS, ETC.  THIS IS AN IN-OFFICE POSITION BUT THERE COULD BE POSSIBLE MANDATORY WORK FROM HOME FOLLOWED BY MANDATORY RETURN TO THE OFFICE. WE ALWAYS ADJUST OUR RESPONSE PLAN AS MORE INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE.

Payroll/Accounting Specialist responsibilities and duties include

• Collect banking information for direct deposit setup, and initiate deposits on paydays

• Generate all weekly, monthly and annual reports, as required

• Process and monitor garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll

• Maintain and document all payroll records

• Conduct semi-annual audits of all payroll records

• Reconcile general ledger with regard to payroll transactions

• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns

Payroll/Accounting Specialist qualifications and skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred

·         Ability to articulate the difference between overhead costs and jobs costs, as well as some accounting theory

• Minimum 3 years' experience in construction accounting and payroll

• SAGE Payroll experience

• Payroll software experience

• Experience with payroll processing and wage attachment

• Some accounts receivable and accounts payable experience

• Excellent organization and mathematical skills

• Familiarity with Windows-based computer programs is a must

• Team player

• Positive/upbeat personality

• Willing to go the extra mile for our employees, vendors and customers

Job Details:

Full time

Hours: 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday

Salary $40,000-$50,000 based on experience

Eligible to work in the US

Reliable transportation to and from work
