    Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. It includes eight primary care sites, 40 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation's largest dental residency program, and New York State's largest behavioral health program. The network also includes 12 community medicine sites providing care to disenfranchised New Yorkers, comprehensive HIV services, chemical dependency programs, and a family support center that offers educational, vocational, and other social support programs.     POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Health Educator/Theatre Facilitator. In this role, the successful candidate will provide ongoing training and support to Project SAFE health educators, facilitate sexual health workshops for youth in high school and High School Equivalency programs and facilitate an advanced peer education group.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct pregnancy prevention workshops in Brooklyn high schools and high school equivalency program.
    • Facilitate advanced peer education group suing theater to educate teens about sexual health topics.
    • Identify opportunities to engage advanced peer education group with other youth theater organization and events.
    • Provide direct supervision for the senior assistant assigned to your group as related to group activities and group managment
    • Meet individually with each Theater participant once per session for a check in and make and document referrals.
    • Collaborate with other staff in creating and maintaining an overall vision and culture for Project SAFE program, including event planning
    • Participate in weekly staff meetings
    • Document and submit class attendance and evaluations
    • Prepare and submit monthly reports

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a HS Diploma Prior work experience with community health outreach. Health related background.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Good interpersonal skills and interest in working with adolescents 2 years experience working with youth Experience in theatre facilitation or performing arts
