    Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. It includes eight primary care sites, 40 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation's largest dental residency program, and New York State's largest behavioral health program. The network also includes 12 community medicine sites providing care to disenfranchised New Yorkers, comprehensive HIV services, chemical dependency programs, and a family support center that offers educational, vocational, and other social support programs.     Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Personal Care Assistant - Brooklyn.

    In this role, the successful candidate Provides escort and personal care to participants in adult day program. Assist participants with center activities; act as a front line responder for emergency situations that ensures participants safety

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Adhere to NYU and DFTA requirements for medical clearance
    * Ride with the driver to transport participants back and forth from home/center
    * Report to Supervisor to receive work assignment
    * Signs participants in and out following agency procedures
    * Work to engage participants in activities and assist in their involvement as needed
    * Provide on-site escort, transfer and help with toileting, dressing, feeding and mobility
    * Cue for medication
    * Accompany group on outings and assist as needed
    * Entertain, converse with, participants to keep them mentally healthy and alert
    * Provide participants and their families with emotional support when needed
    * Maintain a safe, clean, hazard free environment at all times
    * Participate in ongoing staff trainings scheduled by NYU and DFTA
    

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • To qualify you must have a High School Diploma Required.
    • Applicant must have a HHA/PCA certificate.
    • Applicants must pass a comprehensive medical pre-employment screening.
    • Applicant must show a genuine interest and display empathy in caring for the elderly.
    • Working knowledge of sanitation personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions.
    • Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.
    • Able to withstand prolonged standing and walking with the ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and hospital staff.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Applicant must show a genuine interest and display empathy in caring for the elderly
    • Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions
    • Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.
    • Able to withstand prolonged standing and walking with the ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants and program staff

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $20.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
