    Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. It includes eight primary care sites, 40 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation's largest dental residency program, and New York State's largest behavioral health program. The network also includes 12 community medicine sites providing care to disenfranchised New Yorkers, comprehensive HIV services, chemical dependency programs, and a family support center that offers educational, vocational, and other social support programs.     POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Hygienist/PART-TIME throughout various Family Health Center locations in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. In this role, the successful candidate The Dental Hygienist provides preventive dental services, education and treatment for the patients of Lutheran Family Health Center Network and participates in educational programs in the community. He/she performs expanded functions as allowed by state law

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Participates in patient education programs in the community
    • Maintain clinical recall system
    • Participate in the Dental Department Quality Assurance/Chart Audit Program
    • Adhere to hospital, health center and department policies and procedures.
    • Provide chairside assistance to the dentist when necessary and aid in triage of emergency dental patients.
    • Complete the dental record clearly and accurately.
    • Expose, develop, and mount radiographs properly.
    • Maintain hygiene operatory in an organized and clean fashion, assuring that appropriate instruments are available.
    • Apply topical fluoride treatment/pit and fissure sealants
    • Assists the dentists in filling out charts accurately and processing patient's forms and records. Facilitate the patient reappointment process.
    • Provides oral hygiene instructions through individual patient health education which includes: dental caries prevention, proper tooth brushing and flossing techniques, and nutritional guidance.
    • Provides oral prophylaxis and scaling of teeth with cavitron and hand instruments
    • Evaluate patients oral hygiene and dental health and make preventive dental recommendations.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • To qualify you must have a NYS Dental Hygiene License, CPR Certification
    • Willingness to devote the time required completing assigned tasks on schedule
    • Devotes attention and resources to provide the best customer service possible.
    • Utilizes all available resources to reach sound decisions
    • Initiates action to solve problems and assumes responsibility
    • Works with others toward shared goals including participation in department problem-solving and improvement activities.
    • Demonstrates an awareness of and respect for co-workers/patients' cultural background, treating people with fairness and respect.
    • Complies with HIPAA, OSHA, JCAHO, LMC policies and procedures
    • Meets attendance guidelines
    • Meets punctuality guidelines.
    • Meets annual mandatory education requirements
    • Completes goals and assigned projects in a timely manner

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $39.08 - $45.43 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
