    POSITION SUMMARY:

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Programmer I. 

    The data analyst/programmer is primarily responsible for accurately and securely using, maintaining and developing computerized databases within the NYU Langone environment leveraging existing technologies like REDCap, SQL, and Access while analyzing information systems. The individual will also build and implement functional programs working with the Data Management and Statistics Core and provide ongoing support for the databases, surveys, etc. The individual must possess very strong quantitative and analytical abilities. In addition to their programming and data analysis duties, they manage programs and develop research solutions. Therefore, they must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be research-minded. The individual must possess the core programming skills and be able to focus on, Python, R, HTML, CSS, SQL,.net, algorithm, c+, java, matlab, php.

     

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Maintain and modify programs; make approved changes by amending flow charts, develop detailed programming logic, and coding changes.
    • Write new program code using prescribed specifications.
    • Build new and modify existing databases and database management systems, database scheme, tables, procedures and permissions.
    • Support internal operations, implemented solutions and project planning.
    • Configure hardware and software utilized on database and Web servers.
    • Code, test and troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technology including databases
    • Evaluate simple interrelationships between programs such as whether a contemplated change in one part of a program would cause unwanted results in a related part.
    • Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with users and approval of supervisor.
    • Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs. Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
    • Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference.
    • Answer staff questions in person or via phone on all ADRC supported applications and maintaining the work tickets in NYU Langone IT systems.
    • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.
    • Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with users and approval of supervisor.
    • Evaluate simple interrelationships between programs such as whether a contemplated change in one part of a program would cause unwanted results in a related part.
    • Help develop automated pipelines using for data processing.
    • Test and develop programming modifications.
    • Assist office staff in the reports creation and exhibits including data visualization packages like Tableau and PowerBI
    • Aid and support the coaching and training of other team members to ensure all employees are confident in the use of software applications
    • Perform all other job related duties as assigned.

     

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • To qualify you must have a Bachelor or Masters degree in the field of computer science or information systems.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in systems management and information technology.

     

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Program and data analysis skills are strongly preferred, including Python, linux/bash, and R. Experience with neuroimaging tools (SPM, AFNI, FSL) is preferred, but not required.
