    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ophthalmic Photographer. In this role, the successful candidate A world leading research group in ocular imaging is looking for a skilled ophthalmic research photographer. The incumbent will join a vibrant multi-disciplinary research group focusing on ocular imaging. The photographer will perform ophthalmic photography and diagnostic services using state-of-the-art technologies.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Acquire ophthalmic images from human and animals using specialized equipment (both commercially available and prototype technologies) including but not limited to: ocular fundus imaging systems (fluorescein angiography (FA), indocyanine green (ICG)), Optical coherence tomography (OCT), Corneal topography, Specular microscopy, Ultrasound and Photo slit lamp biomicroscope
    • Acquire images of medical phenomena of eye to document diseases, surgeries, treatments and congenital problems.
    • Responsible for obtaining pre-procedural consent forms and other related documentation, as needed. Educates subjects regarding administration of medications, as well as pre- or post-procedural instructions as directed by the ophthalmologist
    • Maintain proficiency in operating all above imaging technologies
    • Recognizes problems or malfunctions of photographic, diagnostic and related equipment. May assist in developing new scanning and processing methods and perform preventive maintenance in accordance with established procedures. Advises supervisor of malfunctions requiring repair by vendor
    • Assists with image-archiving and storage; manages duplicates and escalates any problems or concerns with image capture.
    • Responsible for preparing materials as requested for audio-visual presentations, publications, lectures, and exhibits.
    • Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and reagents. Ensures there are adequate supplies and reagents on hand; works with supervisor to place orders on a timely basis. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery
    • Ensures patient safety is maintained at all times
    • Responsible for maintaining a clean environment for imaging. Ensures adherence to NYU Langone Health's infection control precautions. Adheres to HIPAA and Privacy & Security policies..
    • May train and educate others in ophthalmic imaging techniques and protocols, as instructed by supervisor
    • Prepare periodical reports and manual of operation on utilizing imaging technologies as instructed by supervisor.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a 1) High School Diploma required. 2) Must have 2 or more years of related experience, of which at least one year must be as an Ophthalmic Photographer with experience in retina. Must has demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in diagnostic testing, including but not limited to: ultrasound, OCT, Goldmann and Humphrey visual fields, A and B-scan, Corneal Topography, Corneal Pachymetry, and Heidelberg Retinal Topography.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Ophthalmic Medical Assistant (COA), or equivalent higher training OR COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant), CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer), or equivalent higher certification.
