    POSITION SUMMARY:

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Grants Specialist. The Grants Specialist reports to the Director of Research and provides pre-award coordination for federal and non-federal grants for the Department of Population Health. The position entails general administrative duties, research administration, and other projects as assigned.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Create and maintain grants-related reports at the department level including planned submissions, number of submissions, and priority scores for submitted grants.
    • Identify both internal and external research funding opportunities, and communicate application process and deadlines to Principal Investigators.
    • Serve as a resource to the research community related to sponsor requirements as well as institutional and departmental grants policy.
    • Maintain repository of documents that will ensure a more efficient grant submission process such as biosketches and training tables for departmental faculty.
    • Assist with gathering and compiling documents for Just-In-Time requests.
    • Proactively communicate application process and deadlines to Principal Investigators.
    • Provide support for large, complex grant applications and training grant applications along with divisional and section staff. Serve as main liaison between research team and sponsored programs office.
    • Provide pre-award support to faculty across the department including completing all non-scientific portions of grant applications. Lead budget development. Gather required documents from collaborators and subcontractor organizations as needed. Enter grant into Research Navigator and work with the department and Sponsored Programs Administration to ensure the grant is submitted by the funder due date.

     

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience with pre-award coordination in an academic medical center, government or other significant health-related non-profit; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of grant submission process including preparing, completing, and collecting required paperwork and necessary signatures for federal and non-federal grant applications.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Candidate must have a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines for grant submissions, and manage several projects simultaneously.
