POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Director, Prospect Research, Management and Strategy. In this role, the successful candidate leads the OOD/AA efforts around prospect identification, management and research to support the ambitious fundraising goals set for NYU Langone Health. Using their own expertise and industry best practices, the Senior Director will refine and develop processes and workflows to dramatically increase discovery and lead generation for all revenue generating streams. This role is responsible for building a robust donor pipeline while optimizing portfolio assignments in order to position all frontline fundraisers for success. The Senior Director PRMS will supervise a team of 2-4+ prospect researchers and managers and build strong relationships with all teams and leadership across the organization who are working toward revenue generation. Working closely with the Data Services team and the Senior Director Portfolio and Data Management, the Senior Director PRMS will help inform to the strategic vision for the departments next phase of fundraising, including campaign preparation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the overall prospect and donor research strategy for all revenue generating teams, ensuring that current research activities are aligned with organizational priorities and revenue goals.
Drives the increase of prospect discovery activities, retention and upgrade analysis, and provides recommendations for strategy and moves for current, lapsed and new potential donors, in partnership with the AVP of Giving, the Sr. Director Portfolio and Data Management and the Data Services team.
Develops a comprehensive discovery program to ensure that the research team is providing strong prospects with the highest potential for leadership and major giving and then quickly and efficiently makes the proper portfolio assignments after prospects are qualified.
Creates structures to better visualize network connections and relationships that will allow us to identify strong potential prospects with the help of volunteer engagement.
Leads the prospecting and wealth screening efforts for the mid-level and annual fund programs in order to facilitate gift retention, acquisition and upgrade revenue streams.
Manages and supports a team of 2-4 members of the prospect research and management team focused on creating development plans for each staff member, providing mentorship and identifying professional training opportunities.
Oversees all hiring and onboarding for the team.
Fosters a culture of strategic partnership and donor-centric service with frontline fundraisers, and promote efforts to collaborate with all Development units.
Defines long term vision for team structures and responsibilities that aligns with goals and priorities set by OOD/AA leadership. Ensures that the team¿s structure is able to support the constituent management and research needs across all revenue generating teams.
In partnership with Data Services, analyzes and strategizes prospective donors¿ gift potential, affinity, readiness to give, special interests, and connections to NYULH. Recommend strategies for contacting and engaging prospective donors.
Conducts proactive & reactive prospect research using a variety of methods and sources. Devises new ways to secure information of critical importance to the effective solicitation of significant constituents of NYULH.
In partnership with the Data Services and Portfolio and Data Management teams, supports the execution of the Data Integrity Plan and ensures that our business rules are appropriate and reflective of current need and practice.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree. 10-14+ years of progressively responsible experience in prospect research in a medical or academic setting. Adherence to APRA standards of behavior for researchers is expected, as are any regulations with regards to HIPAA. 6 years of experience in management and team building. Expertise with prospect research tools including Lexis-Nexis, Iwave, Wealth Engine, SEC statements, ACRIS and Foundation Center/Guidestar. Experience with BBCRM required, Tableau is a plus. Understanding of trends in philanthropy, the cultivation/solicitation process and the NYC philanthropic community, including real estate, key business areas and leaders. Excellent writing, research, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to translate ideas into action and results; ability to manage and motivate team members. Self-motivated, well-organized and able to handle multiple priorities and work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
